Just jumping into a new pair of shoes and heading out for a couple of big climbing days isn’t really an ideal method, but as it turned out, there weren’t any fit issues that arose. On the bike, there wasn’t much to think about, they breathed well and offered ample adjustability–on and off the bike. They also happen to be one of the lighter shoe options on the market,

An extremely light, durable, and comfortable shoe that performs at the highest levels in terms of stiffness. The Giro is the shoe you choose to wear when you have options, it is slipper-like in fit and comfort, yet has the stiff and aggressive platform for racing or all-day riding efficiency.

The Factor Techlace by Giro is engineered for road cycling. The shoe’s adequately stiff sole, lightweight build, and unique closure system all aim to provide efficient performance to the road cyclist. Its one-piece upper combines the supple feel of the brand’s Techlace system with the easy adjustment of the BOA dial for an optimal fit.

Lightest, thinnest, and stiffest sole. The shoe employs the Easton EC90 SLC2 carbon fiber outsole. This material is recognized as one of the most lightweight and rigid platforms for road cycling shoes. It provides a comfortable fit, efficient power transfer, and direct connection to the pedals.

Replaceable heel walking pads. This model allows the renewal of heel pads once they need replacement. This feature lengthens the shoe’s lifespan and offers its buyers excellent value for their money.

Just like most road cycling shoes, the Giro Factor Techlace features a three-bolt cleat system. Three-bolt mounts are said to offer a more secure connection to the pedals compared to the 2-bolt version. Try the following pedals for the Factor Techlace: Exustar E-PR100P, RSP Cadence SPD, Look Keo Classic 3, Garmin Vector 3 Power Meter Road Keo Double-Sided, and many more.

Durable and breathable upper material. The shoe’s one-piece upper is constructed from Evofiber SL. This material is made with Teijin microfiber that’s both durable and breathable.

Fast adjustment, supple feel, and replaceable closure system. The Techlace system utilizes hardware laces for a snugger fit across the foot. The laces are also replaceable if damaged. Coupled with the Techlace is the BOA IP1 dial, which offers a fast and easy adjustment. The dial could be adjusted in 1mm increments on both tightening and loosening. It also features a macro release for immediate release.

Interchangeable arch supports for a more customized fit. Inside the shoe, the footbed is equipped with the brand’s signature SuperNatural Fit technology. It features three arch-supports called S, M, and L. These foam pads are attached via Velcro.

Anti-microbial. The insides are lined with the XT2 anti-microbial fiber top sheet to keep shoe feeling and smelling fresh.

The Giro Factor Techlace is solely offered in men’s sizes. The Techlace system excellently works in preventing hotspots without losing that signature snug cycling fit. An option to make clean incisions in the tongue is aimed to prevent the tongue material from digging into the skin.

  • Ventilation holes placed throughout the upper, tongue and outsoles help keep the foot dry and comfortable during summer rides.
  • Branding can be seen on the lateral and rear parts of the upper.
  • A shoe bag is included upon purchase.
  • A female version of this shoe is also available. It is called the Giro Factress Techlace.
