Verdict from 5 experts and +100 user reviews

5 reasons to buy

  • Stability: Runners with overpronation are pleased with the “bowling bumpers” (or GuideRails) that gently keep the foot and ankle straight.
  • Cushioning: The soft and adaptive midsole leaves the legs feeling “fresh” or at least “not completely broken” after marathon training and hill workouts.
  • Ride: Stable, smooth, pleasant - this is how the Brooks Transcend 7 feels at both “cruising speeds” and slightly faster efforts.
  • Upper feel: “Wonderfully comfortable,” it gives a supportive foothold through very subtle 3D-printed stripes. No bulk or obtrusive overlays.
  • Toe box: Medium to wide feet will be happy inside the shoe’s stretchy forefoot.

2 reasons not to buy

  • Not as advertised: More than a few runners were disappointed that while the shoe is on the plush side, there is no “extreme softness underfoot,” as stated by the brand.
  • A bit obtrusive: Some runners find the GuideRails “overly present” in this Brooks model. It can feel too directing or even “dig into the heel.”

Bottom line

A stability counterpart of the Glycerin 18, the Brooks Transcend 7 feels quite similar to its neutral brother. Its following version is even renamed to Brooks Glycerin GTS, reflecting the shoe's kindred to the Glycerins.

The Transcend 7 fuses Brooks’ Cushion and Support series to make a dependable workhorse for long runs and everyday miles. It is a softer stability trainer than Brooks’ Adrenaline and Ravenna lineups.

Good to know

Integrated into the outsole of the Brooks Transcend 7 is the full-length, green rubber. This material is optimized to provide a more cushioned experience to the midsole area. One of the rubber's sole responsibility is to improve traction without compromising the shoe's weight.

The newly configured ratio of the outsole and midsole is integrated into the shoe. This component of the running footwear enables the DNA LOFT to be enhanced. This is significant in providing a softer underfoot without compromising durability, responsiveness, and energy return. The same technology is used in making the Brooks Ghost.

Utilized in the shoe is the OrthoLite liner. This material is focused on delivering exceptional step-in comfort. With this feature of the shoe, a more enjoyable ride is experienced by the user.

Used in crafting the shoe is the updated GuideRails Holistic Support System. With the Transcend 7, Brooks focused their attention to the strain on the knees instead of the foot. Because of this shifting, the GuideRails encourages the stability of the runner's stride. This feature of the shoe also keeps the foot's excess movements under control. Thus, the knees, considered as one of the most injury-prone parts of the runner's body, are being protected and taken care of. This is significant in preventing any possible injury during the running activity.

The revised double jacquard mesh is employed in the shoe. Described as a stretchable material, this component of the running footwear is strategically designed to provide texture and flexibility. Brooks added this feature to offer added breathability, as well. It promotes a healthier and fresher foot environment that adds to the comfort level of the platform.

Used in making the Brooks Transcend 7 is the internal stretch bootie, which is also employed in the Brooks Transcend 6. The primary purpose of this feature is to enclose the foot tightly during the running session. As a result, the foot moves naturally and comfortably with every stride.

Along with the double jacquard mesh is the 3D Fit Print technology. This is essential in providing a more secure and snugger fit during the running session. With the utilization of the 3D Fit Print technology, the fit is enhanced to ensure better performance of the user.

The plush interior liner is incorporated in this running shoe. Brooks added this feature to surround and wrap the foot during the running activity. As a result, the foot is sure to expand and move naturally with every stride.
