I’ve been wearing them extensively over the last couple of months, from classic Munro ascents to coastal walks, and on the very steep slopes of Ailsa Craig, and have found the grip and support to be good.
- The Berghaus Fellmaster Active GTX is a rugged low-cut shoe that provides protection and performance for day hikers. Its sturdy nubuck leather is lined with a Gore-Tex Extended Comfort membrane for water protection and breathability.
- The shoe’s midsole is made of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam for lightweight cushioning and shock absorption. Its Opti-Stud outsole offers traction on challenging ground conditions.
The Fellmaster Active GTX comes in a range of whole and half sizes for male day hikers. It also runs fairly true to size. It is available in a standard width profile. The shoe’s lace-up closure grants a customized lockdown to the wearer.
Berghaus’ Fellmaster Active GTX is equipped with an Opti-Stud outsole to render traction. It’s made of a durable Vibram rubber compound that’s engineered to resist wear and tear. The outsole’s profile is filled with multi-directional lugs which grip on wet and dry surfaces. Its forefoot and heel areas contain small grooves which provide control in downhill and uphill conditions.
