The Under Armour HOVR Havoc Low delivers a commendable on-court performance by bringing in the right blend of old and new technologies. Its upper features a two-tone mesh that is overlaid with TPU hot melt on the forefoot for protection against wear and tear. This breathable upper sits on an EVA midsole that contains the brand’s HOVR technology. This bouncy and light foam covers the heel up to the midfoot. Finally, the thin but solid rubber outsole features classic herringbone, which many hail as the most effective traction pattern available today.
Cushion. These Under Armour shoes feature the company’s new HOVR technology in the midsole. It is a very light and bouncy foam that aims to deliver comfort and impact protection. The foam is contained in an Energy Web compression mesh to activate its impact absorbing properties. This whole setup is then encased in an EVA midsole, which has cutouts at the rear part so that the foam inside it can expand and compress properly.
Traction. Under Armour skips the storytelling on the solid rubber outsole of the UA HOVR Havoc Low and just straightforwardly equips it with good old herringbone. This pattern supports both linear and lateral movements. The forefoot area also has shallow flex grooves to support more natural flexions in that pivotal area.
Length and Width. The shoe features a one-bootie upper, which almost always ensures a one-to-one fit. True enough, the Under Armour HOVR Havoc Low is said to be among those shoes that remain true to size. With that, you can expect that fit will not be a problem with this model.
Lockdown. These low-top basketball shoes surprise their wearers with the amount of support that they can easily deliver. Their low collar is reinforced with a TPU heel counter. It extends a little longer on the lateral side to support aggressive movements that usually put more pressure on that area. The exposed mid-part of the outsole features a TPU shank that ensures a stable and twist-free ride. To further support quick and aggressive movements, the midsole and outsole is extended on the lateral side, and this extension serves as an effective outrigger. Under Armour finishes off the shoe’s lockdown setup with a lacing system that the wearer can use to further adjust the fit.
The uppers of these low-tops are made of two-tone mesh that is covered with TPU hot melt film at the forefoot. This overlay protects this vulnerable area from abrasion.
The sock-like structure and fit of this low-top gives it a streamlined look when worn. As such, it is not difficult to pair with any piece of bottom, just as long as it combines artfully with the color of the shoe.
The Under Armour HOVR Havoc Low is available in the following colors:
- Midnight Navy/Red
