The Nike Hyperdunk series dates back to 2008 and debuted in Beijing. Every year, Nike releases a new shoe model for the series with key endorsers. For 2016, there are three models: the Hyperdunk 2016, the Hyperdunk 2016 Low, and the Hyperdunk 2016 Flyknit.
The Nike Hyperdunk 2016 is the eighth model of the Nike Hyperdunk series. This low-top silhouette has a Phylon midsole and Zoom units for a responsive and comfortable ride. The upper is made of breathable mesh and durable fuse. The midsole has the Flywire technology to hug the foot and keep it down.
The 2018 Nike model of the Hyperdunk series maintain the same comfortable setup of a Phylon midsole and Zoom units for optimal performance.
Cushion. The performance of the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low comes from the Zoom units at the forefoot and heel. The midsole has a Phylon carrier which provides comfort and structure. The cutouts on the outsole gives room for the Zoom units to compress properly, resulting in a trampoline effect. This setup delivers great impact protection and responsiveness.
Traction. The outsole of the Hyperdunk 2016 Low can either be made of solid or gum rubber. It has thick grooves designed to grip well on any surface. The Hyperdunk series is designed for indoor and outdoor use.
Length and Width. Shoe brands manufacture basketball sneakers in the standard widths and lengths. However, it is hard to precisely assess how narrow or wide the feet can be. Therefore, it is recommended for new buyers to fit the shoe first before purchasing.
Lockdown. To keep the foot in place, the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low uses the Flywire technology. It is a lightweight midfoot reinforcement that uses Vectran or nylon strings to provide maximum support. Extending to where the laces are, these strings are anchored on the midsole. The tongue and ankle collar are well padded, providing comfort and additional lockdown.
The upper of the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low is made of standard mesh and fuse. The mesh gives the shoe breathability, while the fuse provides durability. These two materials work together to provide a comfortable and flexible ride.
The Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low is a low-top shoe with a simple design. The shoe comes in different colorways that are paired with either of the two different outsoles. The Swoosh logo is found on the tongue, outsole, and both sides of the shoe. A “HYPERDUNK” callout is found on the tongue. To make known the technology used in the midsole, a “ZOOM” callout is located on the outsole.
Basketball shoes are loved for the technologies that they offer. However, most basketball sneakers are also worn off-court. As such, color and style are also of significance.
The Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low comes in numerous and appealing colorways. A few days before its release, three colorways were revealed to the public. First is the white with black and blue accents and a red Swoosh. Second is the grey with white detailing. Third is the basic black and white. These three were released on July 5, 2016 at $130.
Another good-looking colorway of the low version of the Hyperdunk 2016 was released in the first week of August 2016. It has a black upper, and its midsole is graced with a gradient mix of pink blast, volt, and total orange. The Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low ‘Unlimited’ colorway celebrates the Olympic Games.
The Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low LMTD USA was released in August 20, 2016 to honor the 20th anniversary of women’s basketball. This patriotic colorway comes in university red with white and blue tones, and a “USA” callout on the tongue.
Before the Hyperdunk 2017 was released, the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low LMTD EP was introduced. This unique colorway features a mix of black, gray, and white with rear panel graphics that are from the original Hyperdunk 2008. It was released in December 2016.
On Christmas Day 2016, some NBA athletes debuted the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low Christmas Day PE. It is an all-white shoe with a metallic gold Swoosh.
