What is this for? Like all other Nike Metcon shoes, the Free Metcon 2 UT is created for metabolic conditioning fitness regimens. It includes exercises that burn calories while you do it, as well as after you are done working out. Box jumps, kettlebell swings, mountain climbers are just some of the moves that are included in metcons. These movements require your footwear to be flexible, stable and offer cushioning where it is needed.
The Nike Free Metcon 2 UT has sufficient cushioning to dull shock from jumps and sprints. Its upper has features that provide foot lockdown, and the underside has grippy elements to prevent unnecessary movements.
Traction. The Nike Free Metcon 2 UT employs rubber pods in high-wear areas of the outsole. These bits of rubber also increase the grip to prevent slipping on gym surfaces.
Stability. In this Nike training shoe, rubber wraps under the arch and extends up to form walls on either side of the midfoot. This structure amplifies support during side-to-side movements.
Responsive cushioning. This CrossFit footgear is equipped with the Nike Free. It is a foam technology that is responsive to impact. Energy absorbed upon foot landing is converted to power for the next move.
Agility. What’s unique about the Nike Free is the siping used on the sole unit. These thin slits promote freedom of movement needed for plyometrics, burpees, sled pushes, and the likes. They also help the unit spread out to offer steadiness during agile movements.
Protective wrap. Mesh forms the top of the Nike Free Metcon 2 UT. This fabric is soft and breathable, which aids in moisture and temperature control in the foot chamber.
Rubber overlays are placed on the medial and the lateral sides of the midfoot and the heel. They protect against abrasions and amplify foothold. When the straps are tightened, the side guards also improve lateral support. At the back, the rubber serves as a heel cup that locks the rearfoot in place.
Comfort. Inside the Nike Free Metcon 2 UT is a partial inner sleeve. This sock-like element reduces friction inside the shoe, thereby preventing blisters and chafing.
Lockdown. Like the Nike Metcon Sport, this model doesn’t use a lace-up closure. Instead, it has two wide straps at the midfoot to keep the foot contained. These straps, which are adorned with icons of gears and accessories used for CrossFit or metabolic conditioning, are both adjustable to deliver the desired snugness.
The tongue and the collar are both generously cushioned. The layer of foam not only helps with comfort but also with securing the heel.
