The J Wall 2 Boost is John Wall’s second signature sneaker with the Three Stripes. This mid-top shoe features a combination of Adiprene+ and Boost technologies in the midsole, complimenting John’s skills on the court. The breathable upper of the shoe has fuse overlays on the sides to provide durability. The herringbone traction pattern gives the shoe great stopping power.
There are wearers who love Boost above any other cushioning. Hoop shoes with full-length Boost, like the Volume 3 Adidas signature shoe of James Harden, give so much satisfaction with its impact absorption and responsiveness.
Cushion. The midsole of the Adidas J Wall 2 comes with Adiprene+ at the forefoot, and Boost technology at the heel. As a point guard, John is usually on his toes and needs a lot of court feel when doing aggressive moves on court. These aggressive movements are supported by the Adiprene+ technology at the forefoot. Impact protection is provided by the Boost at the heel.
Traction. The Adidas J Wall 2 Boost has the traditional herringbone traction pattern. This pattern works best on clean indoor courts. The outsole rubber can actually withstand outdoor courts, but this is a signature shoe patterned from the needs of an indoor athlete, so it is best not to use the shoe outdoors.
Length and Width. Adidas manufactures basketball shoes in the average lengths and widths. However, the J Wall 2 reportedly runs long. Most reviewers advise new buyers with normal-sized feet to go half to a full size down. It is hard to assess how flexible the upper of the shoe actually is, so the best advice for wide-footers is to fit the shoe at the nearest outlet prior to the purchase.
Lockdown. To securely keep the foot in place, the J Wall 2 Boost comes with the standard lacing system. The tongue of the shoe is soft and well-padded, hugging the ankles comfortably. The heel counter of the shoe has TPU for foot containment. It cups the foot securely to prevent disturbing side-to-side movements.
The upper of the Adidas J Wall 2 consists of Primeknit with fuse overlays to protect high-wear areas from wear and tear. This material wicks away moisture, providing comfort and ventilation to the foot.
The mid-top Adidas J Wall 2 Boost comes in different colorways. To make known the technology used in the shoe, a “boost” callout is located on the lateral side of the shoe. The TPU heel counter displays John Wall’s signature logo. The iconic Three Stripes are found on the outsole and tongue. On the rear of the shoe is a pull tab that helps in getting the foot easily in and out of the shoe. It also adds a nice touch to the shoe’s overall design.
Adidas J Wall 2 Boost Primeknit Aurora Borealis
During the 2016 All-Star Weekend in Toronto, the Adidas J Wall 2 debuted a Primeknit version of the shoe model in a purple, teal, and pink combination. This colorway is also called the Adidas J Wall 2 Primeknit All Star.
The shoe is inspired by the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights. It is a “natural light show” that feature spectrum of colors in the sky during the months of August to April.
