Bottom line

A great-fitting, reliably grippy, and superbly comfortable hiking gear is the Asolo Soul GV. It can also be accurately described as a looker, thanks to its remarkable construction design-wise. With that said, its arch support may be too much for some since it has been reported to cause pain with prolonged use of the boot. All in all, despite its hit-or-miss arch support, the Soul GV still has enough going for it that makes it a standout Asolo hiker.

  • The Asolo Soul GV is a feature-rich, above-the-ankle outdoor footgear designed for day hikes and leisurely walks. It is up to the task of shielding the wearer from the elements with its Gore-Tex-powered leather upper which is planted securely on the Asoflex 00 SR lasting board.
  • An EVA midsole and the Radiant outsole (an Asolo product made in collaboration with Vibram) provide wearers with a blend of cushioning, balance, and terrain security on the trail. As a unit, they give the boot a toe rocker which assists the foot during toe offs.

Asolo’s Soul GV is a mid-cut, fairly true-to-size day hiker for men and women. It is offered in several full and half sizes in standard width. The women’s version is crafted around a gender-specific last, making its interior favoring the female foot. The boot’s lacing system provides a snug and secure fit, while its adequately padded tongue and collar give a nice, comfy hug around the ankle.

Asolo engineers worked with Vibram to give the Soul GV a grippy outsole called Radiant. Based on the heavy-duty Megagrip compound, this rubber component is capable of producing enough traction no matter the weather condition. Its lugs are spaced apart considerably, allowing the boot to shed mud and dirt with each step.

The Soul GV sports a cushy yet sturdy midsole made of ethylene-vinyl acetate or EVA. Its dual-density construction combines softness and rigidity for a comfortable and stable ride on the trail. Atop this chunky platform is the footwear’s Lite 2 Plus footbed. Its anatomical design and cushioned surfaced deliver adequate support and extra comfort underfoot.

Cordura fabric and water-resistant suede leather with a thickness ranging from 1.6 mm to 1.8 mm form the this Asolo hiking boot's above-the-ankle upper. It’s engineered with Gore-Tex’s Extended Comfort technology, making the boot watertight yet breathable. Key parts of this upper are perforated to improve the boot’s overall breathability. Around its base is a stitched-on leather overlay, rendering the footwear protected from most abrasive hazards nature would throw at it. At the tip of its forefoot, on the other hand, is a toe cap made of TPU for defense against bumps.

Users are given the freedom to set the boot to their desired fit with the Soul GV’s lacing system. It has a set of fabric loops and open hooks in place of regular eyelets. Its laces are synthetic.
