It proved to be a comfortable, breathable, flexible shoe perfect for light hiking or walking on even surfaces.
- Asolo’s Megaton GV encloses the foot in a water-resistant upper made with a combination of one-piece suede leather and polyester. Its liner is by Gore-Tex, making the shoe waterproof.
- Asolo collaborated with Vibram to give the shoe a sole unit called A-Fast. Its cushy midsole is made of EVA, while its grippy outsole is made of rubber, based on Vibram’s Megagrip compound.
The Asolo Megaton GV is a low-cut, fairly true-to-size light hiking shoe crafted specifically for men and women with standard-width feet. It is offered in both whole and half sizes. The women’s version is built around a female-specific last. The shoe’s lacing system provides a personalized fit.
The Megaton GV’s solution to slippery surfaces is the Vibram Megagrip outsole. This durable rubber layer is covered with angular lugs to produce grip in virtually every direction. The engineering of these lugs—the way they are spaced apart—sheds dirt and prevents debris buildup. Outside traction, this component also extends upward, creating a protective toe bumper.
Lending hikers the amount of underfoot comfort and stability they need is the shoe’s mono-density EVA midsole. The material it is made of—ethylene-vinyl acetate—is known for its longevity and stress-crack resistance. Giving users additional cushioning and extra support is the Lite 2 plus footbed. It has perforations for added breathability.
By combining suede leather (with a thickness of 1.8 mm), polyester, and Gore-Tex’s Extended Comfort liner, the Asolo engineers have created an abrasion-resistant, breathable, and waterproof upper in the Megaton GV. Its closure system features synthetic laces and a combination of classic eyelets and lace tunnels.
