Who should buy the ASICS JB Elite TR
Working in concert with Olympic freestyle wrestling champion Jordan Burroughs, ASICS gave birth to the JB Elite TR. Though not considered as a wrestling shoe because of insufficient ankle support but regarded as a day-to-day gym trainer, it is a solid option if:
- Your fitness routine includes a lot of lateral movements.
- You are looking for a stylish companion that provides outstanding traction during gym activities.
Counter slippage outsole
The outsole of the JB Elite TR is made from rubber with a tread pattern that uses a combination of shallow and deep grooves. These grooves enhance the friction of rubber when it is in contact with a smooth surface, thus preventing slippage when walking or running. The deep grooves give the sole more flexibility, allowing the foot to move naturally.
The rubber on the outsole is durable and is able to everyday wear and tear associated with training. Its resilience allows it to move with the foot but also return to its original shape. The outsole is also hard enough to keep the foot protected.
Shock-absorbent midsole
During running and training, the foot can experience a vertical impact force equivalent to 3 to 5 times the person’s body weight. To soften the impact, the JB Elite TR uses ASICS’ Rearfoot Gel technology. This technology absorbs the force as well as aids in the transition of the foot to the mid-stance.
The material of the midsole makes the shoe flexible and it promotes natural foot movement. The midsole also acts to stabilize the foot during movements such as lifting heavy weights or squatting that requires the foot to be firmly planted on the ground.
Breathable upper
This ASICS trainer features a Flexion Fit upper, a proprietary technology that delivers form-fitting material that also provides adequate support. The upper is made from the combination of a flexible mesh fabric that has been reinforced with a polyurethane breathable material. The mesh upper accommodates toe splaying while the PU material delivers the support needed especially for lateral movements.
Cushioned lacing system
The shoe features a traditional lacing system with rounded laces to keep the foot secure when it is tightened.
Padding is found on both the tongue and collar of the shoe. This cushioning not only delivers comfort, but it also helps in locking the foot in place during workouts.
Everyday training-optimized
The low-cut profile of the shoe makes it suitable for everyday training, but not conducive for wrestling moves because it lacks ankle support. It also features an Achilles notch that ensures the shoe will not dig into the skin while working out.
