Size and fit

The traditional lacing system that the Asics Japan S features provides a secure fit on foot. Additionally, it allows its wearers to adjust the fit of the shoe according to their preference.

It also has a durable leather upper that helps in holding the foot better and providing support. Like all of the other low top sneakers, the silhouette of this shoe allows the ankle to move freely.

Asics Japan S Style

Bring the Asics Japan S from the office to the streets with its classic design. It is available in several colorways, including a monochrome white and black, and those with a hint of colors. The monochrome shoe is a solid basic shoe that never gets old. On the other hand, the shoe with a touch of color stands out because of the colored lining detail at the side. However, no matter what the colorway is, the overall silhouette gives off a clean look that makes it easy to wear on different occasions.

Notable Features

This Asics sneaker stands out the most because of its basic look. It has a smooth leather upper with perforated toe box and side panels, which makes it ventilated. The branding of Asics, like the tiger stripes on the quarter panel and “ASICS” lettering at the heel, complements the simple look of the sneaker well.

Asics Japan S History

In 1949, Kihachiro Onitsuka established ONITSUKA in Kobe, Japan. Later on, it was changed to ASICS, an acronym for the Latin expression “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano,” which means “You should pray for a healthy mind in a healthy body”.

In 1950, the brand’s first athletic shoe, a basketball shoe, was made. This shoe was repeatedly tested and refined before releasing the first model. This model is being improved continuously to achieve a shoe that can accommodate the necessary characteristics of a performance basketball shoe.

The inspiration of the Japan S is based on one of the brand’s throwback sneakers from 1981. It has a vintage basketball aesthetic that is complemented with court-specific details, like the court-inspired toe box.
