- The Asics HyperGel SAI is a running shoe that’s designed for the neutral pronator. The façade focuses on a street-ready construction to accommodate casual use. An open mesh exterior covered by another layer of textile offers a snug and secure wrap. An asymmetrical lacing system encourages an anatomically tuned fit.
- Underfoot cushioning is given by the HyperGEL™ system, which is comprised of full-length eTPU and GEL® beads. Shock absorption and gait smoothening are the functions of this technology. A rubber outsole offers protection against wear-and-tear.
The Asics product page for the HyperGel SAI states that it is recommended for runners to go up half-a-size to achieve a pleasant in-shoe experience. When it comes to width, the available options are D – Medium for men and B – Medium for women.
A rubber outsole is tasked with protecting the rest of the platform from the abrasive nature of the roads. The grippy nature of the compound also brings traction, a trait that is important for all running shoes.
The forefoot area has a tread pattern and mild flex grooves that heighten traction and foot flexibility. The toe-off phase of the gait cycle stands to benefit from such a feature.
The midsole unit is comprised of the HyperGEL™ cushioning system. This compound houses full-length eTPU and GEL® beads. Both of these elements contribute to an energized and comfortable performance. The proprietary GEL® pieces are responsible for attenuating impact during the landing phase. In a similar fashion, the Adidas Ultra Boost utilizes its unique midsole material to deliver shock absorption and energy return.
The external portion of the Asics HyperGel SAI’s upper unit is made up of an open mesh that’s reinforced by extra layers of textile. These parts of the façade are meant to hold the foot securely and prevent it from wobbling.
The MONO-SOCK® Fit System involves a smooth, one-piece interior sleeve. A traditional tongue unit is removed from the overall design; a slip-on construction is put in use, instead.
The heel portion has a reflective patch to make the runner visible when adventuring at night. The left shoe’s patch has the Kanji symbol for ‘mind’ while the right has the equivalent of ‘body.’ This visual flair highlights the essence of the Asics brand: A sound mind in a sound body.
