Despite its mid-top profile the shoe manages to retain a sleek and streamlined style, making it easy to pair with almost any casual ensemble. To complement the pair's sporty demeanor, going for a pair of joggers or activewear shorts are your best bets. The Asics Gel PTG MT is the modernized version of the brand's famous basketball silhouette released from the 80s. Also known as the Gel Point Getter (PTG), it is based on the Asics Fabre Point Getter introduced in 1983. The shoe retained the original's silhouette and leather upper with suede details however additional modern elements such as the fuzeGEL heel wedge and OrthoLite insole were applied for enhanced comfort.

The sneaker's GEL-infused sole is the brand's signature cushioning technology. It utilizes silicone gel instead of the usual "air" used by other brands. Asics specifically used the Alpha GEL that's being manufactured by a Japanese company called Taica. The Alpha GEL was applied on a wide range of products mainly for its softness, efficiency in shock absorption, and heat diffusion. Because of these characteristics, the technology was used primarily in running footwear.
