  • Holding back the frigid conditions that come with the winter season is a task that is placed upon the Gel Nimbus 21 Winterized. This special edition of the Asics Gel Nimbus 21 is designed to keep the foot warm with multilayered fabrics and thick in-shoe padding. It also has a platform that can propel the foot forward with energy.

The Asics Gel Nimbus 21 Winterized is a product that utilizes the standard sizing schemes. Runners are open to considering their usual choices of size when it comes to vying for a pair. However, it would be wise to personally test the shoe first or study user reviews to achieve a correct in-shoe feel.

The inner walls of this product are meant to house the natural outline of the foot. Although, it should be remembered that extra layers of fabric are used to stave off cold, so the in-shoe experience might be affected by such a design.

The external pad of the Asics Gel Nimbus 21 Winterized is made of AHAR® or Asics High Abrasion Rubber. This technology is meant to protect the base of the midsole from the debilitating effects of surface contact and continued use. It is touted to last long because it apparently doesn’t wear off quickly.

Flex grooves near the forefoot section have the job of making the platform as flexible as possible, energizing the toe-off in the process. A smooth and well-rounded gait transition can be appreciated because of this feature.

A full-length FlyteFoam® Propel foam offers energy-returning cushioning throughout the running session. The springiness of this material permits the foot to spring off the ground during the toe-off phase. Its durable construction also supports the foot and keeps it engaged.

FlyteFoam® Lyte is placed in the heel section. This feature is made of organic nanofibers that don’t easily lose structural integrity. Consistent cushioning and impact protection govern the inclusion of this accouterment.

Gel® units are wedged in the heel and forefoot of the platform. This silicon-based technology is responsible for absorbing most of the impact forces generated by the foot-strike, then transferring the energy to the foot for extra oomph to the performance. Gel® is an Asics staple, and it’s used in many well-known series like the Gel Kayano and the Gel Cumulus.

A double-layered mesh is used for the upper unit of the Asics Gel Nimbus 21 Winterized. The use of multiple layers aims to combat the cold that comes with winter. Also, small debris won’t be able to enter the foot-chamber because of the shield-like nature of the net.

The collar and tongue feature dense padding meant to maintain a warm in-shoe experience. These parts of the facade are also tasked with preventing in-shoe wobbling and accidental shoe removals.

A bevy of printed overlays graces the exterior silhouette. These elements bolster the durability of the fabrics while also maintaining the upright position and shape of the upper unit.

An external counter is stitched to the rear of this running shoe. The purpose of this add-on is to hold the heel in place and keep it steady throughout the running session.
