Updates to Asics Gel Nimbus 20 SP

  • The Asics Gel Nimbus 20 SP is a running shoe that’s crafted for neutral pronators. Its cushioned platform is also optimized for those with high arches (underpronators); it leads their gait towards a more neutral performance. Several systems work together to make the underfoot experience as comfortable as possible.
  • A breathable mesh graces the upper unit of this neutral shoe. The material has stretchy panels that widen the breathing pores as the foot cycles through the running gait. The difference between this shoe’s façade and the original Gel Nimbus 20 is the Sakura colorway, which is a celebration of Japan’s season for blooming cherry blossoms.

Asics Gel Nimbus 20 SP size and fit

The Asics Gel Nimbus 20 SP was designed using the standard measurements, though it would be safe to try on this shoe first before making a purchase. Getting a well-rounded in-shoe feel may contribute to overall satisfaction. Widthwise, the available options are D – Medium for men and B – Medium for women.

Outsole

The heel of the Asics Gel Nimbus 20 SP makes use of AHAR® or Asics High Abrasion Rubber. This component, like its name, is able to withstand the debilitating effects of surface contact and continued use. It is also tasked with providing traction.

DuraSponge® is the blown equivalent of AHAR®. This distinction means that the rubber is malleable, thus adding more spring to each step (on top of the grip capacity).

Midsole

The midsole design of the shoe is more or less the same with the new Nimbus 21. It aims to deliver responsiveness, durability, and stability.

FlyteFoam® is a compound that’s responsible for providing a bouncy ride. It’s made using organic super-fibers that assist in the reduction of material sagging.

FluidRide® offers additional spring to each step. Moreover, it is lightweight and durable in construction.

The front and back of the platform feature the GEL® system, which is comprised of silicon-based units that are responsible for attenuating impact shock during the landing phase.

The Guidance Trusstic System™ is a thermoplastic foundation in the midfoot section that bolsters the structural integrity of the midsole. This layer also helps in easing tension on the tendons and muscles of the foot-pad when going through the gait cycle.

The Ortholite® X-4O Sockliner graces the Asics Gel Nimbus 20 SP. It adds a bit more cushioning. It also provides antibacterial and anti-moisture capacities for a clean and healthy in-shoe environment.

Upper

Breathable fabric makes up the exterior portion of the Asics Gel Nimbus 20 SP’s upper unit. It has a combination of minute pores and prominent openings to continually deliver breathable support throughout the run. The more open holes stretch even more with the bending of the foot, thereby amplifying ventilation.

The FluidFit® upper is made up of stretchy fabrics and layers to accommodate the natural shape of the foot. The added sheets are tasked with helping the rest of the façade in hugging the foot and keeping it in place.

The Heel Clutching System™ is a peripheral on the rear that prevents in-shoe wobbling and accidental shoe removals.
