ASICS Gel Lyte MT offers a leather upper with Gel Lyte V mono-sockliner which gives its wearer a soft comfort. The split tongue and collar are fully cushioned for comfy feel. It also has a lace-up front for snug personalized fit. The Gel Lyte MT runs true to size and is being offered in men and women sizes in medium width. The men can choose between sizes 5 to 12 US while women have a size range of 6.5 to 13.5 US.

The ASICS Gel Lyte MT offers a mid-top throwback style with suede upper. There is also the presence of mesh on underlay and toecap and ballistic mesh on the split tongue and toecap. The different colors of reflective Tiger stripes on medial and lateral area give a striking style to this shoe.

This mid-top style is well insulated making this perfect for winter. Some described this as an alternative to traditional winter cleats. The Gel Lyte MT is usually paired with jeans, joggers or leg warmer during the winter.

The ASICS Gel Lyte MT carries the notable split tongue. The split tongue was designed to prevent the tongue from slipping on either side especially when running.  At first, the split tongue did not receive approval by some because of its unconventional appeal, but later on, this became one of iconic molds of the ASICS.

The mid-top throwback style of Gel Lyte MT is another notable feature of this shoe. The well insulated, enhanced ankle support and cushioning allow this shoe to become an alternative to the usual winter cleats.

Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka started creating basketball shoes in his home in Japan during the 1940s. He created his shoe company in 1977 and named it ASICS, an acronym for the Latin phrase “Anima Sana in Corpore Sano” which when translated means “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body”.  Up to this day, ASICS continually offers athletic shoes, apparel and accessories and keeps up with its dedication in promoting harmonious body and mind.

In 1987, ASICS released the Gel-Lyte. This running shoe uses ASICS innovative technology – the use of single gel unit on heels. Three years after, the Gel Lyte III was introduced using same gel technology with split tongue and molded EVA midsole. The Gel Lyte III became famous for its casual street wear look. This bridged the gap between athletics and fashion. The Gel Lyte III was tagged as the most comfortable in the Gel Lyte series and labeled as an icon.

25 years after, the Japanese brand decided to create something different from the Gel Lyte III silhouette. ASICS released the Gel Lyte MT as a mid-top adaptation of the 3rd version of Gel Lyte. ASICS also used some key features of the Gel Lyte V and Gel Respector models. Certain key elements of the Gel Lyte III upper have been maintained with added insulation, thus making this shoe perfect for winter.
