Asics Gel Lyte EVO NT History
Asics began its long history in the footwear industry with the founding of Onitsuka Co., Ltd. by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949. The name was changed to ASICS in 1977, based on the acronym of the Latin saying that translates to “A sound mind in a sound body.” Today, the company is known for producing athletic performance shoes that seek harmony between the body and soul.
One of the brand’s famous shoe lines is the Gel-Lyte series. It was first introduced in 1987 with the arrival of the first Gel Lyte, which became an instant hit as it was one of the most lightweight shoes at the time. The Gel Lyte III that came later was a game changer, with a unique tongue design that prevented it from slipping to the side.
Asics continues to pay tribute to the ground-breaking series by creating new models that were inspired by the line’s famous shoes. The Gel Lyte EVO NT is a result of this endeavor. From the name itself, Evolution New Tongue, this Gel Lyte shoe was built to be innovative while maintaining the efficient and progressive elements that made the sneaker series highly sought-after and world-renowned.
Asics Gel Lyte EVO NT Style
Described as the “coolest lifestyle shoe on the streets,” the low-top Gel Lyte EVO NT is definitely a head-turner. Its sleek colorways along with an athletic-inspired upper go well with pants and shorts. The shoe could also be appropriate in a casual-attire work setting.
Due to its supreme comfort, the kicks are also suitable for traveling, so travel clothes such as light jackets will go well with them. As a runner-inspired sneaker, fitness apparel and activewear are also good for pairing up with it.
Fit & Sizing
Asics offers the Gel Lyte EVO NT in men’s sizes, ranging from US 4-13. It comes in regular or medium width and mostly fits true to size. However, many testers found the shoes too narrow and recommended that other people who wanted to buy the model should go half a size up.
The upper is made up of combined lightweight materials such as synthetic suede, mesh, and nylon which provide good support and breathability. Its low-top collar frees the ankle for more movement.
Boasting a smooth upper, the Gel Lyte EVO NT from Asics has an ultramodern design. Gel Lyte name branding is on the side while the Asics name is on the tongue, midsole, and upper heel. Also on the upper is the Asics Tiger logo design, which adorns all Gel Lyte shoes. The speckled color on the midsole adds more flair to the shoe.
- Asics gel cushioning offers impact protection with each step.
- The visible Gel gives an added sleek look to the sneaker.
- Its Dual Density midsole and four-piece tooling improve the support, breathability, and function to enable more action.
