Who should buy ASICS Gel Kumo Lyte 2

It is a solid option if you are looking for a budget-friendly trainer that can do-it-all for your day-to-day needs. That includes:

  • daily running (moderate pace and shorter distance)
  • light cross-training sessions at the gym
  • casual wear/walking

Who should NOT buy it

Asics Novablast 3 seems to be very easy to put on and has a more dense upper for enhanced durability. Gel Content 7 even has an overlay where a toebumper would be - for that extra durable feel.

Kumo Lyte 2 vs. 1: Worth the upgrade?

The difference between the two iterations is not significant. So if you can get a good deal for version 1, you won’t be missing out.

Here is what’s new in v2:

Softer heel

The reinforced Gel cushion offers better shock absorption and plusher landings.

Sleeker design

The Lyte 2 appears more streamlined and pointed.

Great for long walks

Many have confirmed this, from a person who spent 3 days in Disneyland in these shoes, to a nurse who does all-day shifts with no foot fatigue afterward.

Kumo Lyte 2 is very supportive

Sure, it's what everyone expects from Asics, so this shoe delivers. However, many have confirmed it is very stable and supportive, with one fan even using it in the gym during exercises that ask for extra strong support. And arch support? Not overdone, but still there. Perfect, as many have reported.

Almost lightweight!

Numerous compliments were found in the weight department. Featherlight, lightweight, insanely light... this is what to expect. So good.

Make sure to size up

These run a bit smaller. Many had to go half or full-size up. Also, it's worth noting that the tongue is gusseted (sewn in) which means you might have difficulties putting the shoe on at first - until the collar and tongue loosen up a bit and you get used to the lacing.

Upper might be too thin for the Kumo Lyte 2 to last

There were a handful of reviews that criticized the upper. It's simply too thin and ended up having holes way sooner than expected. Runners made sure to note this was not due to longer nails but simply a quality issue.
