Stability and motion control add-ons are uncommon for workout shoes and are never present in CrossFit or weightlifting footwear. They are mostly found in walking shoes where the gait is easier to correct.

Updates to Asics Gel Fit Tempo 3
- Asics produces training shoes that are versatile and can be used for indoor or outdoor training, walking or even high-intensity workouts. One of these shoes is the Asics Gel Fit Tempo 3.
- This model uses some of the technologies found in its predecessor. It inherits a breathable mesh upper which allows heat to dissipate and keeps the foot ventilated.
- A Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System is used in the heel section of the midsole. It is designed to attenuate shock during impact.
- The most noticeable difference is the lacing system. The Gel Fit Tempo 2 featured a cage-like panel that enhanced the lateral support. The new model makes use of mesh on its sides, with overlays reinforcing the eyelets and outlining the mesh.
- The underfoot was also updated. The new version replaced the non-marking rubber pods with AHAR+, a high abrasion spongy-type of rubber.
Asics Gel Fit Tempo 3 size and fit
The Gel Fit Tempo 3 is only available in women’s sizes. It typically runs true to size. The width is B – Medium. The material used in the upper is not stretchable and does not accommodate wide feet.
The Asics Gel Fit Tempo 3 uses an exposed full-length midsole made from a durable material that can keep up with the wear and tear associated with training. It extends partially to the front and serves to protect the toes from impact during workouts.
Shallow flex grooves adorn the underfoot. They are meant to accommodate the natural bending of the foot during multidirectional movements.
Strategically placed in the forefoot and heel areas is AHAR+. This technology is a spongy rubber that is 50 percent lighter than conventional rubber but is more abrasion resistant.
The full-length midsole is durable and serves to absorb shock from impact. It is designed to be thick in the heel for stability and thin towards the forefoot to accommodate natural foot flexion.
The Gel Fit Tempo 3 features a Rearfoot Gel Cushioning system that enhances the shock absorption in the heel area. It reduces the force of impact by absorbing it and returning that energy to the ground, readying the foot for the push-off.
The Asics Gel Fit Tempo 3 makes use of mesh fabric in the forefoot and midfoot areas. The back portion is covered with a soft textile while synthetic overlays reinforce the eyelets and parts of the side panels.
A traditional lace-up closure has round laces to secure the instep and keep the foot from slipping out while on the move. The lightly padded tongue serves as a barrier between the instep and laces to keep it comfortable.
The padded collar delivers ankle support and keeps the heel locked down. It also prevents chafing of the Achilles.
Lining the inside is a smooth fabric. It has a seamless construction that prevents any irritation of the skin during use.
An external back counter anchors the heel to the sole unit. This structure locks the heel in place to deliver a stable footing while working out.
