The Asics Gel DS Trainer 25 is an update to a revered series of road running shoes that are also designed to avert anatomical instability during those arduous speed training sessions. The overall schematic of this product is largely similar to its immediate predecessor, the Gel DS Trainer 24, save for additional security and steadiness for the heel part via hot-melted heel counter. The same tried-and-true technologies from Asics carry over from the past iterations.
Runners are treated to a true to size measurement when it comes to the Gel DS Trainer 25. The quality of the sideways fit is influenced by the semi-curved shape of the platform and the form-welcoming nature of the upper unit. These elements of the product are working together to accommodate the foot and its natural movement capabilities.
AHAR® or Asics High Abrasion Rubber is used for the outsole unit of this stability running shoe. This layer is made to withstand the effects of surface exposure and continued use. It covers the high-wear areas of the heel and forefoot to ensure constant protection at all times. Surface adhesion is also a part of its purpose, giving confidence and sureness to each step.
Shallow and deep flex grooves help the foot when it comes to transitioning through the gait cycle. The forefoot lift benefits the most from these outsole channels as it is the part of the step that involves flexibility the most.
The midsole unit of the Asics Gel DS Trainer 25 uses FlyteFoam®, a full-length cushioning unit that is meant to carry the foot and keep it supported throughout the running session. The lightweight yet durable structure of this piece offers long-lasting performance that doesn’t encumber the quality of the step.
GEL® is a silicon-based technology that is placed in the heel part of the platform, and its purpose is to provide extra oomph to this shoe’s shock-attenuating capacity. Heel strikers can benefit from this tech because it can properly mitigate the landing forces and prevent discomfort from affecting the speed and smoothness of the heel-to-toe transitions.
The Propulsion Trusstic® Technology involves a thermoplastic layer that rests between the midsole and outsole. This element has the job of assisting the underfoot in gaining energy and propulsive power to use during the forefoot lift.
The Dynamic DuoMax™ Support System is a foam piece that is denser than the one used for the primary cushioning system. It is wedged in the medial side of the platform, a strategic placement that aims to avert overpronation or the adverse inward rolling of the foot. Many of Asics’ offerings feature the DuoMax™, including the highly-regarded Gel Kayano line.
The upper unit of the Asics Gel DS Trainer 25 uses Performance Knit, a cloth-like material that is seamless and breathable. The form-welcoming wrap that is on offer evokes the feeling of wearing a sock.
Printed overlays grace the eyestays and the sides to bolster durability and maintain the upright position of the upper.
The rear part features a hot-melted external counter to help the fabrics in securing the heel and preventing it from wobbling during the run. Accidental shoe removals are also restricted by this inclusion.
The traditional lacing system permits the runner to adjust the snugness or looseness of the in-shoe hub, thus ensuring a customized wearing experience that adapts to preferences.
