  • The Asics Gel Defiant 2 is crafted for people who enjoy cross-training. The shoe is designed with materials that deliver ample lateral support in the upper in combination with a mesh fabric that keeps the foot fresh during the workout.
  • The midsole features the full-length EVA foam and the Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System. The use of these two technologies results in an enhanced shock-absorbing platform.
  • The shoe employs the AHAR+ outsole. This compound is claimed to be non-marking, durable and flexible at the right places. It also offers traction on most surfaces.

The Gel Defiant is only available in men’s version and runs true to size. The width of the trainer is D - Medium. The construction and materials used do not allow the upper to stretch out too much. It is recommended that consumers try the footwear in person to get an agreeable size.

The Asics High Abrasion Rubber Plus, or AHAR+, covers the bottom of the Gel Defiant 2. As the name implies, this technology has a high resistance to abrasion which prolongs the life of the shoe.

Flex grooves are found in the forefoot region. They facilitate the natural foot flexion to prevent discomfort or pain.

The AHAR+ is also non-marking, which means no scuff marks are left on floors. The tread pattern on this model enhances the traction of the rubber.

The Gel Defiant 2 utilizes a full-length ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) midsole. This foam is durable and flexible. It also attenuates shock to protect the foot from any discomfort.

The midsole employs the lateral Trusstic System. This rigid material is made from resin and cradles the foot to deliver support during side-to-side movements. It is also lightweight, and the brand claims that it allows the midsole to retain its structural integrity without adding weight to the platform.

The unit also features the visible Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System, typical to most training shoes from Asics. It is a soft material that enhances the shock-absorbing properties of the midsole in the heel area.

On the inside is a removable insole. This component adds another layer of cushioning but can be easily removed if desired by the user.

A combination of mesh and synthetic materials constitute the upper of the Asics Gel Defiant 2. The mesh fabric ensures that the inside is well ventilated. A soft mesh also lines the inner wall of the shoe to deliver a comfortable and breathable surrounding to the foot.

Synthetic overlays adorn most of the upper. They form panels on the lateral and medial sides to deliver support during dynamic movements. The overlays protect the toe box from abrasion and impact. At the back, the synthetic material serves as a heel counter that anchors the foot to the midsole and stops the foot from wobbling.

The Gel Defiant 2 uses a traditional lace-up closure to hold the foot securely. The padded tongue spreads out the pressure brought about by tightening of the laces and keeps the instep comfortable.

The plush collar prevents chafing of the ankles. It also locks the foot down to avoid accidental removal of the shoe.

The upper also features the Mono Sock Fit System that delivers a snug fit. Its design implied that the quarter panel hugs the forefoot, adding support during multi-directional movements.
