Good to know

If agility is what you’re after in a badminton trainer, then consider the Asics Gel Blade 7 for your next purchase. It employs a low-profile sole unit which allows it to be flexible and promote natural movements. The outsole is made of grippy rubber which prevents athletes from slipping on the floor. Despite its relatively thin midsole, it is equipped with a top-notch cushioning technology to aid in shock attenuation.

Another model to consider is the Asics Blast FF. It features a FlyteFoam midsole for impact reduction and gum rubber outsole for traction. The top is also made of mesh which promotes ventilation of the foot chamber.

Traction. The Asics Gel Blade 7 features the brand’s AHAR+ outsole. AHAR+, which stands for Asics High Abrasion Rubber Plus, is three times more durable compared to car tires. It is non-marking which means it will not leave streaks on the floor. AHAR+ is similar to a gum sole in terms of its stickiness on indoor courts.

It has a web-like tread pattern under the forefoot which helps with multi-directional grip. At the center of the web is a pivot point. It serves to ease the stress on the knee while twisting and turning. According to Asics, this outsole design is most beneficial for athletes who play closer to the net as it helps with agility.

Stability. Under the arch of this Asics badminton shoe, you’ll see a shiny plastic called the Trusstic System. This component reinforces the area without adding weight to the footgear. It prevents twisting for enhanced foot stability during quick transitions.

Shock absorption. A full-length EVA midsole makes up the midsole of the Asics Gel Blade 7. The wavy design at the medial side of the forefoot helps disperse shock upon impact. At the heel, there is a Gel cushioning that provides more shock attenuation when players land on their heels.

Comfort. An Ortholite insert lines the inside of the footwear. It has an open-cell construction which helps with moisture and temperature control. This removable insole is replaceable with custom orthotics if needed.

Foothold. The top of the Asics Gel Blade 7 is crafted with mesh and synthetic materials. The mesh fabric is breathable, which allows air to cool the inside of the footgear. A traditional lacing system keeps helps with fit customization. Users can adjust how tight they want their footwear to be during games.

Protection. At the toe box is the PGuard element. This synthetic element covers the toes and protects the area against bumps and scrapes. This component also extends to the medial side of the foot, which helps in containing the foot.
