- The Asics Gel Acclaim is an all-purpose cross-training shoe that was designed to keep up with a variety of physical activities. It has a low-cut design that features an upper made of leather for durability, and mesh which delivers breathability and comfort.
- The midsole is made of the compression molded ethylene-vinyl acetate (CMEVA). It is designed to offer lightweight cushioning.
- The shoe also utilizes the Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System that enhances shock absorption and smooth heel-to-toe transition. The cushioning and support that the shoe provides earned it the seal of acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association.
- Lining the underside is the Asics High Abrasion Rubber or AHAR. This rubber is designed to be durable which extends the overall life of the footwear.
The Asics Gel Acclaim comes in both men’s and women’s versions. It tends to run on the small side and narrow side, so consumers may need to order a half size up to get a more relaxed in-shoe experience. The width option is available in D - Medium and 2E - Extra Wide for Men and B - Medium and D - Wide for Women.
The Asics Gel Acclaim makes use of the AHAR technology. This proprietary compound is designed to be more durable than ordinary rubber which contributes to its high resistance to abrasion and long-lasting durability. The material in itself provides traction, but the presence of various tread patterns enhances it. Under the ball area is a pivot point which facilitates smooth turns and multi-directional movements.
Flex grooves are found in the forefoot area. They allow the platform to bend and move along with the natural flexion of the wearer’s foot.
The Asics Gel Acclaim’s lightweight midsole is made of CMEVA for enhanced cushioning. This foam platform delivers a comfortable footbed that softens the force of impact, and at the same time, it does not compress quickly to prevent the wearer from losing balance.
Like a good number of Asics workout shoes, it employs the Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System at the heel section. It enhances the cushioning in this area and smoothens mid-movement transitions. The shoe has also been awarded the seal of acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association for its foot-friendly cushioning and support.
The Asics Gel Acclaim features a combination of leather and mesh in its upper. The leather material gives the shoe its structure and keeps the top of the foot supported. To keep the foot chamber well ventilated, it has perforations, plus the use of mesh fabric allows fresh air to come in, and hot air to dissipate.
Traditional lacing system keeps the foot in place. The round laces can be tightened or loosed to customize the fit. The padded tongue keeps the instep from becoming irritated by the pressure created by the laces.
At the back section, the plush collar prevents irritation to the ankle area as well as holding the foot down to avoid accidental shoe removal. A pull loop is attached to the back of the collar to help users put on the trainer.
