Summary

We spent 6 hours reading reviews from experts and users. In summary, this is what runners think:

7 reasons to buy

  • The upper unit of the SpeedForm RC Vent from Under Armour offers breathability and support through a lightweight mesh material.
  • The heel area is secured via a seamless heel cup with a silicone grip.
  • Runners appreciated that the interior felt comfortable next to the skin of their feet.
  • The included foot bed has a cushioning technology that forms into the shape of the wearer’s foot, giving contoured support.
  • A supportive full-length foam also makes the takeoffs more explosive thanks to its responsive and springy nature.
  • A curve in the mid-foot area offers support to the arch.
  • Blown rubber is placed in the outsole for protection and extra cushioning.

2 reasons not to buy

  • The lack of optional colors didn’t sit well with some runners.
  • The lack of padding in the tongue caused the lacing system to put pressure on the skin of a few testers.

Bottom line

Running in a natural and efficient way is what the SpeedForm RC Vent from Under Armour has to offer. Its lightweight nature encourages speed to take its course and lead the runner quickly through their activities. It’s a solid option for neutral runners and those who want a minimalist shoe as their choice.

The Under Armour SpeedForm® RC Vent is a cushioned and responsive 6mm drop shoe, yet still provides the responsiveness you'd expect from a racing flat.

Updates to Under Armour SpeedForm RC Vent

  • Effective, natural performance, that is one of the hallmarks of the Under Armour SpeedForm RC Vent. This running shoe gives the runner a feeling of being more free when it comes to moving naturally and enabling an easier running experience. Though this shoe doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, the features that it does have are all efficient and long-lasting.
  • The upper unit of this running shoe makes use of a very lightweight material that’s breathable and stretchy. It allows air to enter the shoe, circulate, and keep the foot well-ventilated. Its stretchable nature accommodates the natural dimensions of the foot, making sure that it doesn’t feel restricted. Some components even work well with the fabrics in order to keep the foot in place.
  • A well-cushioned step is what the mid-sole unit of the Under Armour SpeedForm RC Vent offers. It also allows the foot to move naturally through the gait cycle because it doesn’t have a stiff nature. It even makes each forefoot takeoff more enabled and enhanced because of its springiness. Contoured support is given by the foot-bed.
  • Looking at the outsole unit, one could distinctly notice that it is designed to take the shape of the foot pad. Durable rubber is placed in areas that serve as contact points. These sections are where impact is most likely to occur, so it’s the job of the rubber material to shield them from damage while also giving additional cushioning.

Under Armour SpeedForm RC Vent size and fit

The Under Armour Speedform RC Vent has a standard running shoe length. It comes in sizes that adhere to the regular measurements. Its heel, mid-foot and forefoot sections have medium widths, so this shoe is actually able to accommodate those with medium sized feet. Its semi-curved shape follows the natural curve of the human foot.

Outsole

Blown Rubber is a compound that is durable and reliable when it comes to providing protection against wear. It is responsible for surface traction, thus giving the rubber utmost control of the ground. It is also very responsive, so it is able to add a bit more cushioning to the runner. Its mildly springy nature enables the foot to lift back up in a very efficient way.

The outsole has an anatomical shape that’s meant to deliver a natural fit to the wearer. It allows the foot to move as naturally as possible, but with support from the sole unit.

Midsole

The Micro G® is a full-length foam unit that serves as the main cushioning system of the Under Armour Speedform RC Vent. It is lightweight and it has a responsive nature. It supports the entire stride, from the heel strikes to the forefoot lifts. Its springy nature allows explosive toe-offs.

The Molded 4D Foam® adds more support to the immediate underfoot. It conforms to the exact shape of the wearer’s foot, making sure that contoured support is afforded to the runner.

A TPU curve in the mid-foot area adds support to the arch. It’s a helpful mechanism that enables the runner to stay efficient and enabled during the running sessions, while reducing foot fatigue or discomfort.

Upper

The ArmourVent™ is a high quality mesh material that is durable and breathable. It doesn’t tear apart easily, so it is able to wrap around the foot snugly even after many uses. Air is encouraged to enter the shoe seamlessly, thus keeping the foot cool and dry.

The ultrasonic welded seaming with Bemis tape adds next-to-skin comfort to the runner. It’s a helpful layer that keeps the foot free from irritation while inside this shoe.

A seamless heel cup with silicone grip keeps the rear of the foot in place. It even prevents accidental shoe removals during the running sessions.
