- Boasting a completely new design, the Altra Provision 4.0 is the latest addition to a series of well-known stability running shoes. It is an everyday road running shoe that uses the Zero Drop™ platform and unique support features that help prevent overpronation.
The Altra Provision 4.0 has been updated to fit the needs of neutral runners and mild pronators. This version offers a lesser amount of stability that makes the platform lighter and more flexible compared to its predecessors.
A dynamic arch feature called InnovArch™ technology is incorporated into the shoe. This technology utilizes proprioception that establishes a link between mind, body, and feet to encourage a natural foot placement.
Guide Rail™ technology is also used to deliver added stability. This component comes into play only when the runner needs it, providing a stable ride without being too restrictive.
Several factors affect the fit of the Altra Provision 4.0. This includes the traditional lacing system that gives a secure and customized in-shoe feel. Footshape™ toe box is also used to provide enough room for the toes to move and spread out naturally.
It is also worth noting that the Altra Provision 4.0’s women version has a different shape when compared to its men version. This is because the manufacturers included the Fit4Her™ technology in women’s version to accommodate the natural shape of the female’s foot.
A durable rubber material called FootPod™ technology is integrated into the outsole of the Altra Provision 4.0. The primary purpose of this outsole technology is to map the tendons and bones on the foot to allow it to move and bend naturally. It enhances the shoe’s flexibility without sacrificing traction and durability. Another popular Altra running shoe that utilizes FootPod™ technology is the Altra Torin 3.0.
This running shoe is constructed with a balanced level of cushioning, also known as the Zero Drop™ platform. This structure places the forefoot and heel on the same distance from the ground, encouraging a low-impact form throughout the run.
Providing added flexibility is InnerFlex™ technology. This component is composed of grid-like grooves in the midsole, which allow the foot to flex and bend naturally. It is also responsible for making the midsole lighter for improved speed.
A firmer piece of EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) rubber called Guide Rail™ technology is included for stability. This feature acts like a highway guide rail that only provides support when the runner needs it. It delivers adaptive stability to help reduce overpronation.
Another exciting support feature that is utilized in this lightweight running shoe is InnovArch™ technology. It holds the arch in place to provide extra stability. This element uses proprioception that establishes a connection between mind, body, and feet to encourage a more natural gait cycle.
For a soft and bouncy step-in feel, a removable footbed is placed underneath the foot. This material also offers added underfoot protection and support.
The Altra Provision 4.0 is constructed with a Footshape™ toe box, which allows the toes to relax and spread out naturally. The Footshape™ toe box and Zero Drop™ platform are working together to provide an enhanced fit by preventing the shoe from raising the heel and squeezing the toes.
The upper unit of the shoe makes use of engineered mesh fabric. It is a soft and lightweight material that offers a high level of breathability. It allows for continuous ventilation to keep the foot dry and cool for an extended period.
For a personalized fit, the traditional lacing system is used. The shoelaces are attached to the arch of the shoe, giving gentle support when the user pronates. A padded tongue is also used to protect the top of the foot from getting pinched by the shoelaces. The tongue also prevents small rocks and debris from getting inside the shoe.
The women’s version of the Altra Provision 4.0 also features Fit4Her™ technology. This technology is used by the manufacturers to customize every women’s shoe to fit the unique anatomy of the female foot. It aims to provide a more secure and pleasant wearing experience.
