This shoe really fits like a glove and it feels like this shoe is actually made specifically for your foot because of hte flexible inner layer of the upper that I was talking about.
Super lightweight shoe. I've worn this for a 7, a 5 and a 13-mile run so far. No fatigue whatsoever in it. Very snappy, very responsive.
They are a super light, decently cushioned and will be a once or twice a week run form focus shoe for me at moderate tempo paces. I had no problems taking them out on easier shorter runs and recovery runs I prefer a well cushioned heel with at least 6mm drop and a snappy single flex point forefoot for both racing and training.
A well executed shoe by Altra. While it does boast about also being a workout shoe, like Sam, I found it more enjoyable to run easy miles in it. I have a complete and full arsenal of other stuff I’ll pull for quality session days. Perfect shoe for the runner looking to experience zero drop, without a overly high stack that will cause the legs to work harder than they actually have to.
Notable elements of the Altra Kayenta
- As the latest addition to the Altra road running shoe lineup, the Kayenta is sure to make those neutral runners perform better and faster. It utilizes a 2-layer upper construction. This component of the shoe adapts to different types of foot volumes and shapes.
- Integrated into the shoe is the Max-LT midsole. The primary goal of which is to provide excellent cushioning that the runner needs during the activities.
- Strategic rubber pods are featured on the Altra Kayenta. Located on the outsole area, the pods provide additional durability to the shoe while still maintaining its lightweight structure and design.
Altra Kayenta size and fit
The fit of the Altra Kayenta is said to be comfortable. Aside from the flexible air mesh, users with average foot dimensions will enjoy the wide toe box of the shoe. The available width options are the standard B for the women’s and D for the men’s. When it comes to the sizing, the Kayenta follows the standard running shoe measurements.
Like the Altra Torin 3.0, the FootPod outsole is integrated into the Altra Kayenta as well. The main purpose of this outsole technology is to follow the curvature of the human foot. This was updated to enhance flexibility. It is essential in helping the foot to bend naturally for a more responsive ride.
Located in the outsole area are the rubber pods. These pods are focused on increasing the durability of the platform.
The Altra Kayenta utilizes the Max-LT. This is described to be a responsive midsole compound that is designed to deliver an exceptional cushioning system with better and extensive energy return.
Lying in the midsole area is the Inner Flex. This feature of the shoe is comprised of flex grooves that offer additional flexibility. This system is also focused on cutting the weight of the shoe to enhance the performance of the runner.
The Altra’s unique FootShape technology is also used in the Kayenta. It is designed to follow the natural curves of the foot for maximum comfort.
Just like the other Altra running shoes, the Kayenta comes in a Zero-Drop platform design which encourages low-impact running experience.
A 2-layer quick-dry air mesh with Neoprene lining is integrated into the shoe. This upper construction is described to be lightweight and flexible enough to accommodate various types of foot volumes and shapes.
Used in the shoe is the footshape toe box. This feature is meant to allow the toes to spread out and relax during the running activity. In downhill descents and uphill climbs, a more comfortable and stable ride is enjoyed by the user.
