The Instinct is too firmly cushioned for its weight, with similar levels of cushioning to shoes that are much lighter.

As well as being more durable and getting more comfortable the more the run in them a firmer mid-soled shoe also makes your foot behave as it should.

Updates to Intuition 3.5

The Altra Intuition 3.5 is a women’s neutral running shoe that’s created to provide responsive cushioning, breathable coverage, and durable performance on the roads. A lightweight construction ensures better running outputs and lesser discomfort. True to the Altra vision, this model has the FootShape™ design, which follows the natural structure of the human foot.

The upper unit of this running shoe makes use of a breathable mesh material that allows air to maintain ventilation. A seamless construction was utilized for the upper unit. It essentially makes the interior feel like a sock, thus preventing skin irritation, while also allowing the runner to actually use this shoe without socks.

Dual Layer EVA is basically a more robust underfoot material that maintains the durability of the platform. Made from industry-standard foam, it cushions the foot responsibly, as well. The A-Bound™ is a lightweight material that is able to protect the foot from the landing forces during the foot-strike. It also adds a bit of springiness to the running output of the wearer.

The outsole unit of the Altra Intuition 3.5 features pattern that follows the natural shape and movement of the foot. Flex grooves are placed right where the bones and tendons are most flexible. It provides a natural ride that’s like a pseudo-barefoot-like running experience. Durable rubber covers areas of the outsole that are more prone to wear and tear.

Intuition 3.5 size and fit

The Altra Intuition 3.5 runs slightly short. It is recommended for runners to purchase ½ size larger than what they’re used to in order to get a more relaxed fit. The available width is medium. It is worth noting that this model was made for women.

The outsole unit of the Altra Intuition 3.5 the Foot Pod Technology™, which is a design that maps the shape movement of the foot. It allows the runner to move through the gait cycle with ease. Flexibility is enhanced, as well. The toe-off phase greatly benefits from this design because it is where the toes bend the most.

Durable rubber protects the areas of the outsole that are more prone to wear and tear. It also delivers reliable surface traction. Control over the roads becomes more agreeable to the performance of the runner.

Dual Layer Ethylene vinyl acetate makes up the bottom layer of the mid-sole unit. It delivers responsive cushioning that’s also durable and long-lasting. It doesn’t break down easily, thus maintaining its form and efficacy even after many uses.

The A-Bound™ is a lightweight material that’s placed above the Dual Layer EVA. It cushions the landing impacts during the striking phase and then gives the toe-off a boost of energy to get the runner moving forward with effectiveness.

A 5-mm-thick sock liner is added to the platform. It has molded arch, which cushions the mid-foot, as well.

The upper unit of the Altra Intuition 3.5 is made from the Quick Dry Air Mesh. This lightweight material is breathable, and it also staves away moisture. A cool and dry running experience is achieved because of it.

A Seamless Construction makes the upper feel smooth and comfortable against the skin. It even allows the runner to wear the shoe without actual socks.

The Heel Claw is an overlay in the rear area that locks the heel in place and prevents wobbliness in the interior. It’s efficient in preventing accidental shoe removals.

The FootShape™ Toe Box employs a wider forefoot area. It permits the natural splaying of the toes when taking each step, which is great when it comes to achieving natural balance.
