The luxurious Air Jordan 21 Low was released in November 2006 at $135. This low-top basketball sneaker is designed by D’wayne Edwards. The upper is made of authentic Italian leather. The side panels are put together through a double-lasting process that involves tightening the leather lining to hide the molded foam midsole. The solid outsole rubber features a DNA-like traction pattern. The IPS technology is introduced in the AJ 21. This technology gives wearers the option to choose either a Zoom Air or encapsulated for heel cushioning. If the Air Jordan VI takes design cues from the Porsche 911, the Air Jordan 21 Low takes inspiration from the Bentley Continental GT Coupe.
Cushion. At the heel of the Air Jordan 21 Low’s Phylon midsole is the innovative IPS (Independent Podular Suspension). It is a chamber that allows the wearers to swap between Zoom Air and Encapsulated Air units.
The midfoot contains a carbon fiber shank plate that provides arch support and stability.
Traction. The Air Jordan XXI Low comes with a solid outsole rubber. The DNA-like traction pattern not only delivers superior floor control but also pays tribute to the champion Michael Jordan. The outsole also has four protruding herringbone pods that help provide comfort upon landing.
Length and Width. The Air Jordan 21 Low does not have a huge number of feedback regarding its sizing. Because of this, new buyers are advised to fit the shoe first or pick their true Jordan size.
Lockdown. The Air Jordan XX1 Low comes with a standard lace-up system to secure the foot. The heel counter is designed to conform to the shape of the foot, effectively providing containment and preventing side-to-side movements.
The upper of the Air Jordan 21 Low in the Carolina Blue colorway is made of full-grain premium-quality leather. As for the Black / Metallic Silver – Varsity Red colorway, it comes as a combination of fancy Italian suede leather and full-grain leather. These genuine leathers deliver durability and flexibility. The diamond-quilted tongue is made of breathable mesh. The side panels go through a double lasting process to hide the midsole area, creating a low-profile appearance.
When it comes to style, the Jordan brand can top any shoe company. The Air Jordan shoes in particular draw inspirations from Michael Jordan’s persona and favorites. The Air Jordan 21 Low is inspired by the Bentley Continental GT Coupe. The car’s front grille is aesthetically incorporated in the side panels, effectively serving vents for further breathability. The inner cleatie is diamond quilted. This deluxe padding provides support and comfort to the foot.
Unlike the mid-top Air Jordan XXI, the doesn’t have unique callouts on the underside of the tongue.
When it was first released in late 2006, the low-top version of the Air Jordan XXI had two colorways. They are the Black/Metallic Silver–Varsity Red and White/University Blue–Metallic Silver colorways. The latter is also called the Carolina Blue colorway.
