Adidas x The Good Will Out NMD_CS1 History

Adidas NMD’s development designer, Nic Galway, aimed to create a shoe that carries a unique design that will be remarkable in its own way that will catch attention even from a distance. He also wanted to create a functional silhouette. Holding on to those goals, Galway, went through the brand’s classics and gave them a touch of modernization. Thus, the Adidas NMD was born.

NMD stands for “Nomad,” and the silhouette represents its correspondence with the continually traveling people. With the lightweight comfort and quality performance of the shoe, it lives up to the needs of a traveler.

In the summer of 2016, the Adidas NMD City Sock series was introduced by Adidas. The Adidas NMD_CS1 displays a full Primeknit upper and a laceless closure system. In 2017, using the silhouette, Adidas teamed up The Good Will Out, a Cologne-based sneaker shop. The Good Will Out carries a solid reputation all-over Europe and in the sneaker district.

The Adidas x The Good Will Out NMD_CS1 received a stealthy makeover as the concept of the collaboration took inspiration from the Shinobi, the male feudal Japanese mercenaries or commonly known as ninjas. Presenting an all-black appearance, the silhouette conveys the “covert movements” and the “nocturnal camouflage” of the ninjas.

The design was then finished off with the heel loop tape that displays the words, “THE ART OF SEEING THROUGH DARKNESS” and “THE GOOD WILL OUT” in both English and Japanese.
