The shape of the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot is maintained by a midfoot cage and secured by the round lace-up system. The winterized but streamlined design of this shoe fits snug from the collar as the insulated collar and tongue hugs the foot excellently like a boot.

Despite being a men-specific shoe, women may still wear the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot by going a full size to 1.5 sizes down depending on their foot width.

With a boot-like fit but feels like a sneaker, the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot is a trainer ready for play and show. Its streamlined runner-inspired design is perfect for harsh and usually unforgiving winter months when one wants to feel warm yet fully geared for action. The shoe colorways come ready for a casual look to an athletic look perfect for the gym workouts or long walks.

The men-specific shoe is best paired with winter sportswear but could easily pass other types of clothes depending on the season. With a progressive look of its reinforced mid cage that looks protective and sturdy, the sneakerboots come fully accented with a speckled midsole and reflective Three-stripes for a crisp and modern finish.

Some of the adaptable colorways of the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot include core black, olive, trace cargo, night cargo/tech beige, and core black/mystery ink. The nifty colorways have been praised by many users wanting to quickly pull off any street-style look using the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot in a matter of minutes.

The versatile colorways of the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot also work for the advantage in styling the sneaker. Instead of wearing bulky boots and shoes during the winter, sneakerheads now have an option to rock stylish sneakers in the cold.

Styling the men’s Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot are best done with insulated pants, thick jeans, and trousers often used during the winter. Wearers of this winter sneaker may pair these with thick jackets, parkas, sweaters, hoodies, and other winter-ready street-style casual wear. Rainy season clothes also suit this casual waterproof sneaker as its moisture wicking ballistic mesh upper material would keep the foot warm and dry during a torrential downpour.

The highlight of the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot design is its winter-ready upper material. The feet are kept cozy all day with the PrimaLoft insulation in the ballistic mesh upper that keeps the feet warm with a boot-like fit and a water resistance treatment on the top makes them last even during the rainy months. Also, an improvement from its earlier design is a lug rubber outsole with jagged edges that help a lot in maintaining superior ground traction in slippery and wet surfaces.

Adidas has been a leading force in the footwear industry since it was established on August 18, 1949. Company founder Adolf “Adi” Dassler has pioneered shoemaking after coining the name of the company from a fusion of his name in the German town of Herzogenaurach.

After going separate ways with his brother from the company they founded in the 1920s, Dassler decided to manufacture and sell shoes on his own. He also capitalized on manufacturing shoes primarily for athletes like the German football team which started commissioning him at his previous company the Gebruder Dassler Schufabrik.

Some 60 years later, Adidas has already captured a substantial chunk of the world sneaker market as the second largest shoe producer in the world. Through the years, the German company has produced several shoes that became the bestselling designs of all time like the Adidas Stan Smith and the Adidas Superstar.

Inspired by the running silhouette of the famous NMD, the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot is a winter-ready version of the X_PLR which came out in December 2016.

Compared to the premium materials and modern technologies of the NMD, the X_PLR had a more practical use of techniques and materials but without sacrificing quality and comfort.

While the popular and bestselling NMD that was released in 2015 used materials such as Primeknit and energy-releasing Boost on the midsole, the X_PLR used an upper textile material, Ortholite lining, and molded EVA in its midsole delivering an almost at par quality in cushioning as in other popular running sneaker models.

The NMD initially was inspired by iconic Adidas Originals sneakers such as the Rising Star, Boston Super, and Micropacer which gives it superior cushioning and support. The same inspiration also paved the way for the X_PLR to innovate with a whole new look and silhouette resembling that of the NMD but only with less up to date technology and materials but still delivers respectable comfort and the bottom line of the deal which is affordability and value for money.

  Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot features

As a hugely popular shoe, the X_PLR has a more streamlined design compared to the NMD. The following year, in time for the start of winter in 2017, Adidas released the X_PLR Sneakerboot to address the need for an everyday sneaker with a boot-style inspiration and made to be worn all winter season. The winter-ready X_PLR Sneakerboot features PrimaLoft insulation that keeps the foot warm in the coldest of days.

The Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot also comes with a nubuck heel and lug rubber outsole for steady traction and durability even on slippery and icy ground conditions. The warm and cozy shoe upper comes in a textile upper with a textured and speckled midsole and rugged outsole built for the harsh elements of winter.

Aside from the insulating material called PrimaLoft used by the American military and several companies since the 1980s, the Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot has a cushioned footbed with Ortholite technology that allows wearers to rock their shoes for several hours without feeling any fatigue.

PrimaLoft as an insulation material is not new in the world of sneakers as it is used in outdoor apparel such as jackets, sleeping bags, and gloves including footwear for over three decades. As early as the 1980s, the material has been used to provide insulation and warmth to the American soldiers.

  • The Adidas X_PLR Sneakerboot has a premium nubuck heel patch and lug rubber outsole for superior traction and durability on icy and slippery grounds.
  • A speckled outsole and a reflective Three-Stripe finish complete the style accents of the sneakerboot.
  • The ballistic mesh upper and midfoot cage maintains breathability and structure to this ultra-modern shoe silhouette.
  • This winter shoe makes use of the Ortholite sockliner to make sure that the wearer experiences high levels of internal comfort.
  • A heel pull-tab at the back and quick lacing at front assure fast and secure on and off of the Adidas X_XPLR Sneakerboot.
