Adidas White Mountaineering NMD_R1 Trail Primeknit History

White Mountaineering is a Japanese streetwear label known for its outdoor inspired and minimally designed merchandise. The brand is based in Tokyo and was founded by Yosuke Aizawa in 2006. The company flawlessly combines performance-based features with a stylish aesthetic for fashion. They are hailed for being detail-oriented and having exceptional knowledge of utilitarian products.

Adidas first released the NMD in December 2015 under the label's street-focused Originals category. It is the first shoe to feature the brand's Boost technology. The NMD drew attributes from three previous styles: the Micro Pacer, Rising Star, and the Boston Super, but was upgraded to a Primeknit upper and Boost midsole which became an entirely new product.

The "NMD" stands for nomads, which means people that are always on the move without anything holding them back. With this concept in mind, the Adidas NMD was built for travelers who seek a pair of light, flexible, and compressible shoe to take with them wherever they go.

Since its release, the NMD has been one of the most sought-after kicks and has been dubbed as an "icon in the making." It received multiple reinterpretations through different collaborations with artists, stores, and designers. Some of these notable collaborations are with Bape, Nice Kicks, United Arrows, and White Mountaineering.

Adidas and White Mountaineering first announced their partnership in 2015 and had released two collections together since. Their latest collection was introduced in early 2017, and this includes the Adidas White Mountaineering NMD_R1 Trail Primeknit shoe. This pair received an upgraded hiking boot-inspired outsole and some reinforcements for its upper. It is available in multiple colorways.
