Adidas USA 84 takes us back to the good old days

Adidas brings back the 80’s sports style by introducing the Adidas USA 84. Set with a vintage layout, this archive-inspired sneaker gives us a hint of what comfy running shoes from decades past feels like. It isn’t loaded with technical specifications like most of the modern Adidas running shoes. But it’s crafted with the essentials needed by athletes to ace in marathons back then and the level of comfort for today's daily grind.

What’s in it aside from its vintage charm?

  • has a double-layer mesh cover that allows air to circulate inside the shoe
  • built with a cushy foam underside that dampens shock without adding extra weight
  • wrapped in leather on the toe, heel, and eyestays for durability

Other retro runners from the 80s

Below are the retroed versions of memorable running styles from the 1980s, which are the style cues behind the Adidas USA 84. All these sneakers fall within the budget-friendly range.

Adidas New York - Unlike the clean and straightforward lines of the Adidas USA 84, this sneaker has a Dellinger web base, a fish scale resembling sole. If you prefer a more pronounced impact absorption, you might want to consider this than the updated kick.

Adidas Marathon TR - Compared to the outsole shape of the Adidas USA 84, this comeback trail runner silhouette features an aggressive set of tread pattern for enhanced surface grip. It offers superb cushioning compared to the modest midsole design of the Adidas USA 84.

Adidas Boston Super - A predecessor of Adidas’ trailblazing runners like the EQT and ZX series, this retroed kick offers a sporty vibe with premium detailing. It’s presented in a deluxe form with hits of suede throughout the upper. Boston Super's interior is lined in plush leather versus the synthetic material you'll find on the Adidas USA 84.
