Updates to Adidas Terrex CMTK GTX
- The Adidas Terrex CMTK GTX is a trail running shoe that’s designed to provide surface steadiness to neutral pronators, particularly when tackling tricky terrains. The façade is reminiscent of the designs that grace the Terrex line of off-road footwear, but this model has a smooth look that is free of cumbersome layers.
- Overlays are printed onto the upper of this trail companion. These synthetic prints are meant to reinforce the frame of the frontage while also acting as wrapping mechanisms that hold the foot in place. The Gore-Tex® membrane offers waterproof protection.
- Underfoot cushioning is provided by a full-length ethylene vinyl acetate unit. It’s protected by a layer of rubber made by the company, Continental™.
Adidas Terrex CMTK GTX size and fit
The Adidas Terrex CMTK GTX was designed using the standard measurements, so runners are allowed to get a pair using their usual sizing preferences. When it comes to width, the available options are D – Medium and B – Medium for men and women, respectively. The semi-curved shape of this shoe mimics the natural curve of the human foot.
The outsole unit of the Adidas Terrex CMTK GTX makes use of Continental™ rubber. This material completely covers the rest of the platform, shielding it from wear-and-tear. It is also responsible for surface traction.
Prominent gripping lugs pockmark the external pad. These multidirectional nodes heighten surface grip, ensuring movement control and sound off-road traversal.
Just like in the popular Adidas Duramo 9's midsole, ethylene vinyl acetate or EVA is the material that composes the Adidas Terrex CMTK GTX’s midsole unit, and it runs the entire length of the shoe. Its job is to carry the foot through the gait cycle, mitigating the impact forces and energizing the toe-off in the process.
A thermoplastic polyurethane heel stabilizes the back of the foot, keeping it secure throughout the adventure. It also prevents positional deviation when on uneven topography.
A molded insole is placed above the EVA foam. This add-on contours the shape of the foot-pad, thereby giving support to sections that aren’t usually given any attention.
A multi-layered mesh is used for the upper unit of the Adidas Terrex CMTK GTX. This fabric is meant to hug the foot and keep it secure within the interior chamber. Its multiple layers prevent small debris from infiltrating the running shoe.
The Gore-Tex® membrane is a layer of protection against water permeation. It adds some weight to the overall product, but it doesn’t restrict breathability.
Synthetics overlays are printed onto the façade. These strategically placed layers are meant to protect against debris on the trails while also giving a secure foot-wrap.
A fabric sleeve allows the skin to feel a smooth coverage while inside the foot-chamber, preventing hot spots and blisters in the process.
The lightly padded collar is meant to hold the foot in place, keeping it safe from accidental shoe removals.
A traditional lacing system graces this trail companion. Semi-flat laces snake through discrete eyelets, as well as an anchor on the tongue unit. These elements help in ensuring a secure in-shoe experience.
A pull tab is added on the back of the collar. This fabric strip is a helpful addition that assists runners when it comes to wearing and removing the Adidas Terrex CMTK GTX.
