Updates to Adidas Terrex AX3 GTX

  • The Terrex AX3 GTX, (the waterproof version of Adidas' Terrex AX3) the  is a lightweight hiking shoe from Adidas developed with an emphasis on sturdiness and comfort. Its upper uses a durable mesh and synthetic combo, and is lined with Gore-Tex to provide weather protection.
  • Providing support and cushioning is an EVA midsole. The watertight hiker works with a molded insole for enhanced comfort. Below the midsole unit is an outsole made of Continental Rubber compound which takes care surface traction. These two components form a rockered profile for a smooth toe-off.

Size and fit

This Adidas product caters to male and female hikers. It is offered in a range of whole and half sizes. It reasonably runs true to size and accommodates medium-width foot. Its traditional lace-up closure promotes fit customization.


The Adidas Terrex AX3 GTX employs a Continental Rubber outsole. Its multi-lugged design bites into the ground, regardless of the terrain type. The pattern used in the heel area assists hikers, especially during steep descents. Its upright protrusion at the toe renders extra protection on rocky surfaces.


This Adidas hiking shoe carries an ethylene-vinyl acetate or EVA midsole—a lightweight material that cushions each user’s stride. A molded sockliner amplifies comfort and also yields a decent amount of arch support.


The Terrex AX3 GTX from Adidas wears a combination of mesh and synthetic for its upper to balance durability and flexibility. A rubber toe cap shields the foot against knocks while the molded heel cup adds stability. A pull tab at the back of the shoe facilitates on and off.
