This shoe is great for those looking for a top quality training shoe with the very best traction, water resistance, protection and durability, but are less concerned with high end performance or plush comfort/cushion.
The midsole, while similar to the Skychaser, is actually a little less precise, especially in the heel area which moves it in the wrong direction for me.
The Agravic, however, is purely for off-road runners, confidently and speedily navigating rocks, ice and wet with Continental rubber soles – yup, from the tyre manufacturer – retaining grip on all surfaces
These shoes feel heavy when you pick them up; however, possibly due to the Boost energy-return tech, my performance didn’t seem to suffer for it. Though I am almost 100 percent a forefoot striker, the toe boxes of these shoes were so narrow that when running downhill, I switched to heel striking to keep my toes from smashing into the front of the shoe.
Updates to Adidas Terrex Agravic GTX
- The Adidas Terrex Agravic GTX is a trail running shoe that’s created to function well on many types of outdoor terrain, especially technical ones. It features high-quality components, which work in tandem to deliver consistent performance on the off-road paths.
- The upper unit uses abrasion-resistant textiles and overlays. They protect the foot from trail hazards and small objects. They’re also made to last long. A lightweight tongue made from EVA provides additional support and comfort to the top of the wearer’s foot. This model also uses the GORE-TEX® waterproof membrane to prevent water infiltration.
- The boost™ is a top-tier cushioning technology that’s used in many Adidas running shoes. Utilized as the main underfoot platform for the Terrex Agravic GTX, it efficiently carries the foot and attenuates shock during impact, keeping the runner comfortable and confident while tackling the unpredictable surfaces.
- Traction is provided by a trail-optimized outsole, which makes use of a durable rubber compound. Gripping lugs afford more grip on uneven ground.
Adidas Terrex Agravic GTX size and fit
The Adidas Terrex Agravic GTX has a standard running shoe length. The sizing schemes used in this product conform to the regular preferences of runners. The available width for the men and women’s versions is medium. It has a semi-curved shape, which means that it follows the natural curve of the human foot.
The outsole unit of the Adidas Terrex Agravic GTX features Continental™ Rubber. This material is a highly durable one that’s meant to protect the mid-sole from the abrasive nature of the trails. It also delivers reliable surface traction, which is essential when it comes to running.
Aggressive gripping lugs pockmark the external section of the sole unit. They effectively enhance surface grip, making sure that multi-surface traversal is much more attainable and agreeable to the runner.
Same as with the popular Adidas Ultra Boost, the Terrex Agravic GTX uses the Boost™ . This midsole technology is a full-length foam unit that’s made from the compaction of thousands of cushioning pellets. It cushions the foot well, carrying it responsibly through the gait cycle. It also attenuates impact shock during the landing phase.
The upper of the Adidas Terrex Agravic GTX makes use of textiles that are resistant to abrasion. They make the entire package more durable and long-lasting. Rocks and small debris won’t easily tear through the fabric, basically heightening the structural integrity of the product.
The overlay system has been fused directly to the main upper fabric. They essentially assist in wrapping around the foot securely, while also reducing the overall weight of the shoe. There are stitched sections, but they’re meant to reinforce the materials.
The GORE-TEX® membrane covers the upper unit of the Adidas Terrex Agravic GTX. This waterproof material does exactly as advertised: protect the shoe and the foot from water infiltration.
