The Adidas Real Deal was initially released in 1998 and was the signature shoe of former NBA player Antoine Walker. In 2012, these shoes for basketball playing was retroed and released with better technologies such as the adiPRENE+ cushioning on the forefoot. The shoe, however, retains the well-loved Feet You Wear technology.

Cushion. The Adidas Real Deal uses a full-length molded EVA foam on the midsole, together with an adiPRENE+ cushion on the forefoot. Although bulky-looking, the shoe’s cushioning is quite minimal; and it brings your foot close to the ground. The shoe also features the Feet You Wear technology that makes sure that shoe is anatomically correct for a more natural ride.

Traction. The shoe uses a dense herringbone pattern on the outsole. It can be used outdoors due to the firm, non-marking rubber compound used.

Length and Width. The Real Deal reportedly runs large. For a snug fit, go half a size lower than your standard Adidas basketball size.

Lockdown. The Adidas Real Deal features an asymmetrical lacing system that allows the shoe to easily bend. On the tongue is a 3M lace holder that keeps it in place, avoiding those annoying tongue slips. The EVA midsole peaks, thickly padded heel counter, and internal heel cup also provide the stability and foot containment that high-performing players need.

The upper uses a combination of leather and synthetic overlays. A reflective 3M material is used on the lace holder and on some parts of the upper. The midsole is made of EVA foam and adiPRENE+ while the outsole uses a non-marking rubber compound.

Although unique-looking, the silhouette of the Adidas Real Deal plays into the function of the shoe. The rounded midsoles feature the Feet You Wear technology that makes the shoe bend and move naturally, conforming to the wearer’s foot. On the upper are three reflective lines that run from the tip of the toe box to the midfoot; on the sides are the midsole peaks that give the shoe personality.

The Adidas Equipment logo is embroidered on the lateral side of the shoe and on the tongue.
