Adidas Punstock SPZL History

It was in 2014 when the Three Stripes formed the Adidas Spezial series which gives attention to uncovering classic profiles from the archives and modernizing it for the contemporary market. Adidas delegated the task to two of the most passionate Adidas collectors, Mike Chetcuti and Gary Aspden.

The Spezial collection launched the Summer of Love collection for Spring/Summer in early 2018 that features vivid colors and graphics. This capsule pays homage to the warehouse parties in the White Isle in Ibiza illustrious in the late 80s. Ibiza was dubbed as the Clubbing Mecca as the parties in the White Isle were flooded with euphoric music.

Following the success of the first Summer of Love collection of the Spezial is the Autumn/Winter 2018 called the "Acid Winter." This series is composed of several iterations inspired by the classic silhouettes and revamped it with rave season elements to introduce to the current market. These silhouettes display aesthetics that are confined to determined style.

One of the sneakers included in this collection is the Adidas Punstock SPZL. This iteration was inspired from the 1984's Long Beach silhouette unveiled by the Freizeit division of the Adidas. This kick is crafted with monochromatic leather upper seated atop a black sole.

The lace-up fastening system is reinforced by retro metal eyelets, a vintage logo patch at the tongue, and a silver logo plaque on the quarter. The brown leather Three Stripes on the sides further amp its vintage feel.

The Timber brown soft-leather upper is rested atop a black, flexible sole to suggest its athletic heritage. To further boost the luxurious vibe, the brand styled it with metal emblem found on the side wall.

This modernized silhouette gives away a luxurious vibe while staying reasonably priced. Most users sport their moc-inspired sneaker with straight-cut denim jeans and a fresh tee. Meanwhile, for a smart casual look, some opt to style this footwear with trousers and a crisp button-down polo.
