The Adidas Pretereo III is crafted to deliver strength and stability. The upper conforms to the foot and features reinforcements that help with supporting the ankle. The split sole construction is engineered to aid when pushing forward during attacks as well as holding firm during defense.

If you like the aesthetics of the Pretereo III, the Adidas AdiZero Varner 2 may also pique your interest. The design of the upper is quite similar. Both outsole constructions promote flexibility and traction in any direction. However, the outsole of the AdiZero Varner 2 extends upwards to increase traction in key areas.

Traction. Rubber is placed under the forefoot and the heel to deliver targeted grip. This compound aids wrestlers when they want to push their opponents and not slip. Suede covers some parts of the outsole and wraps the bottom part of the upper. This material reduces friction on the mat, allowing for smooth and quick foot transitions if needed.

Flexibility. The Pretereo III employs a split-sole outsole construction. The forefoot has a groove running across it which promotes natural foot movements.

Cushioning. This trainer lacks a thick midsole commonly found in athletic footwear. The rubber outsole is soft and helps attenuate shock without compromising the pliability of the shoe.

Breathability. A single-layer mesh makes up the upper of this trainer. It helps aerate the foot chamber and keep the foot fresh.  The tongue is also covered in an open-cell mesh fabric to help ventilate the interior.

Lockdown. The Pretereo III sports a high-top silhouette. This construction, along with the vamp-to-leg lacing systems securely lock the foot in place. The tongue and collar are lightly padded to add comfort and help secure the ankle.

There is an integrated lace garage on top of the tongue. This element prevents the shoestrings from getting in the way during a match.

Protection and support. Overlays on the toe and the eyestay protect the underlying fabric from premature ripping. They also form a supportive network on the quarters to secure the ankle and the lower leg when the laces are tightened.
