This is by far the best remake of the Predator Accelerator. The entire upper is virtually the same, it’s the same kangaroo leather, the same stitching pattern, the same rubber elements, the same lace loops and the same leather tongue. What I like a lot though is the outsole of the Accelerator remake because it is a lot lighter.
I think it’s ugly but it gets the job done. I like the concept that Adidas gave us a proper 1:1 remake. The only thing about old school football boots is that they don’t feel as good and comfortable as you remember them to be.
It feels very comfortable out of the box, but they’re the opposite of how most modern boots feel. They’re not particularly light, they actually feel bulky. But I like that there’s a sense of something actually being on my feet. I like the touch on the ball and the extra grip on the rubber elements.
The leather is superb. The insole has a nice touch. Overall it is an amazing boot.
Features of the Adidas Predator Accelerator 2018 Firm Ground
- The Adidas Predator Accelerator 2018 Firm Ground is a modern remake of the classic Adidas Predator Accelerator released in 1999. The upper of this football boot including its electric yellow colorway is a carryover from the original version.
- It features a Kangaroo leather vamp and Primeknit textile rear. The soft leather with the iconic rubber elements offers an amazing touch on the ball. Whereas the synthetic material in the back provides the much-needed support when running.
- This Predator remake uses a modern soleplate the SprintFrame, which is also found on the Adidas Predator 18+. It is made of a lightweight material that can adequately support the foot. It has an FG/AG stud pattern featuring several uniquely shaped cleats. They offer excellent traction on both firm grounds (FG) and artificial grass (AG) playing surfaces.
- Its arched midfoot offers additional stability on FG and AG pitches. This feature is also found on popular football boot such as the Adidas Copa 18.1. Firm Ground.
Fit and sizing
The Adidas Predator Accelerator 2018 Firm Ground is available in sizes 6.5 to 13.5 in men’s version only. With the help of the K-leather vamp and lacing system, this football boot can accommodate players with narrow to slightly wide feet.
A new feature on the Adidas Predator Accelerator 2018 Firm Ground is the SprintFrame outsole. It is a low-profile soleplate that is made of a lightweight yet strong and supportive material. The Sprintframe also features an external heel counter identical to the Adidas Predator 18+.
The FG/AG stud pattern of this football boot is composed of three studs on each side of the forefoot, four studs in the heel, and one support stud in the middle of the forefoot. Each stud has its own unique shape. Together, they offer excellent traction on both dry natural grounds and artificial grass surfaces.
Released for the 20th anniversary of the Predator Accelerator released in 1999, the Adidas Predator Accelerator 2018 Firm Ground upper is a 1:1 remake of the original version. It has the kangaroo leather material, the fold-over tongue, the central lacing system, and the rubber elements on the forefoot.
The upper is divided into two parts - a genuine kangaroo leather vamp and a Primeknit textile rear. Aside from providing a natural touch on the ball, the leather material also stretches and molds to the shape of the foot creating a comfortable fit after continued use.
On the surface of the forefoot are the same rubberized striking elements found on the original version. These rubber forefoot pads are as useful as they were when it comes to gripping the ball for a powerful strike.
Similar to the original Predator Accelerator, the remake also has a fold-over flap tongue made of quality leather. Underneath it is an asymmetrical lacing system with the same lace loops found on the 1999 model. These elements create a wider striking surface at the center of the shoe.
For premium in-shoe comfort, this football boot has a synthetic suede internal lining. It also comes with a fully removable insole with Boost cushioning. This material is made of hundreds of springy Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) which are useful in shock absorption and energy return.
