These Billionaire Boys Club shoes are comfy enough with the use of mesh upper and cushy foam midsole. The low-top Adidas Pharrell Williams BBC Hu V2 sneakers are rated relatively true to size. These kicks are available in men’s sizes from 5 to 14 US. Women shoppers may go 1.5 sizes down to obtain an equivalent men’s size. The upper is made of a one-piece knit material that’s supple and pliant. Leather-made eyestays are sewn on top to prevent the knitted eyeholes from fraying easily. These pieces of leather also add another dimension to the geometrically colored segments on the upper.

Suede hits are affixed on the medial and lateral edges that offer extra reinforcement to the front sides of the shoe. Like other Tennis Hu designs, these kicks are not built with the responsive Boost unit in the midsole. The foot-hugging uppers, however, rest atop the EVA foam midsoles which may not be as bouncy as Boost but offers sufficient cushioning to the foot.

The low-top Adidas Pharrell Williams BBC Hu V2 shoe is dressed using a single knit upper in a form-fitting cleatie shape. You can throw on a relaxed look with these easy-to-wear, slip-on pairs whether you feel like lounging around in slim ripped jeans, tees and unbuttoned plaid polos or walking shorts and graphic-printed jersey shirts.

You can also partner these sneakers that are kitted out in Cloud White/Scarlet/Blue colorway with chains of activewear and gym clothes such as zipped jacket and narrow-cut track pants, sweatshirts and joggers, sporty polos and cargos, or fleece sweater and training pants. If you want to play safe, you may lace-up this kick with navy or red colored shirt or jacket and a khaki, grey, or denim bottoms.

Simplicity is the central theme of the Billionaires Boys Club Hu version 2 sneaker. Pharrell kept the lines and contours of this shoe incredibly modest while adding reinforcement where it is needed the most. An example of this is the suede panel stitched on the front perimeter that strengthens the structure of such area.

On the flipside, the section below the ball of foot and heel are enhanced with the use of hard-wearing rubber. The treatment of primary colors such as red, blue, and white on this low-top Adidas Hu profile makes it a head-turner without being too loud and flashy.

The union between the large athletic brand Adidas and multi-talented musician, composer, record producer, entrepreneur, and fashion mogul Pharrell Williams in 2014 resulted in a series of bright and upbeat sneaker releases under the Hu line, which translates to Human Ultimatum. Hu also speaks of color, mainly referring to different races and cultures.

                  Adidas x Pharrell Williams

The celebrated launch of the Hu category occurred in September 2016 with the drop of the Human Race capsule. This first Pharrell Hu pack composed of vibrant shades of red, tangerine, green, light blue, and black. Each of the five inaugural colorways consisted of a single-piece upper in a cleat-like structure, and a unique lacing system using TPU wings attached above the Boost midsole.

Since this initial take off, Pharrell has communicated his fondness towards minimalist designs and partiality to vibrant colors and graphics – themes that encourage consumers to be confident and courageous in expressing their desired styles.

The Adidas x Pharrell Williams’ joint logo appears like three horizontal stripes wherein the top part is altered into an equal sign, leaving the bottom line for the artist’s name. The symbol expresses Pharrell’s interest in creating products that revolve around the concept of equality.

The Pharrell Tennis Hu line, where the second version of the Adidas Pharrell Williams BBC Hu was derived from, appeared in July 2017. The first model introduced under this collection is the Adidas x Pharrell Williams Tennis Hu, which is a spinoff of the popular tennis-rooted sneaker and the old-time favorite Adidas Stan Smith. The original cut sported the traditional white and green color pattern of the Smiths.

                 Billionaires Boys Club on Hu

Long before Pharrell tied up with Adidas, he teamed up with Nigo, Japan’s fashion guru and founder of the streetwear brand, A Bathing Ape (BAPE) and established the Billionaire Boys Club, a premium clothing label.

BBC was formed towards the end of 2005, and several years after, this brand was seen integrated into some of the Pharrell Hu sneakers starting with BBC’s exclusive release of the Adidas x Pharrell Williams Hu NMD Trail in “Cotton Candy” colorway in 2017. Unlike the earlier wildly colorful upper designs, this sneaker is dressed with a subdued toned cover, almost appearing like soft grey on a Boost cushioned midsole.

In October 2018, the Billionaires Boys Club and Adidas came up with another NMD Hu product, the BBC Pharrell Williams x Adidas NMD Hu. Such Billionaires Boys Club edition is dressed in a mesh upper with bold-faced letters across the top that says “HEART” and “MIND.” This kick is equipped with a responsive midsole and an updated rubber trail outsole.

A pink/blue version which was exclusively sold at BBC carries the brand’s classic “B” logo on the heel of the left shoe. Bold Japanese characters are embroidered on top which translates to “heart” and “mind.” The trail-inspired rope laces are looped through the midfoot caging system. This design complements with the modified rugged tread pattern on the outsole.

After much hype about such drop, the Adidas Pharrell Williams BBC Hu V2 was released subsequently. Unlike the previous design, this Adidas Pharrell Williams BBC Hu V2 sneaker comes with a knit textile exterior with hits of suede and leather. The laces on this kick are the same as the ones on the previous NMD iteration release that somewhat resembles thin trail ropes. Instead of the signature cushioning system seen in the earlier drops of the Hu sneakers, this kick features a lightweight EVA foam, similar to the midsole materials used on the Pharrell Williams Tennis Hu and Deerupt Runner.

  • “Hu” stands for Human Ultimatum.
  • This second installment of Adidas Hu and BBC collaboration has the signature Pharrell sockliner that features the old foot reflexology chart.
  • Unlike the Adidas NMD Hu sneakers where the lacing system consists of TPU caging attached to the sides, this kick has a lace-up design where the shoestrings are looped through the eyelets.
  • Embossed Billionaires Boys Club and Adidas Trefoil logos are displayed on the patch of leather on the tongue.
  • The grid pattern on the outsole grants traction and support.
  • Its silhouette almost resembles the Deerupt Runner from the Adidas Originals catalog with a slight angular difference at the back of the shoe.
  • Other Adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams sneakers integrated with the streetwear brand Billionaires Boys Club are the 2015 BBC x Adidas Stan Smith “Pony Hair” and the 2016 BBC x Adidas Stan Smith “Palm Tree.”
