Adidas Padiham SPZL History
Adidas formed the Spezial collection which is composed of unearthed silhouettes from the impressive library of the Three Stripes. Gary Aspden, one of the biggest fans of the brand, was tasked to curate the Spezial collection. The team was commissioned to dig the collection deeper to rediscover some vintage models that will suit the modern market.
For the 2018 Spezial collection, Aspden and his team used bright colors and graphics to create a collection based on the Ibiza parties in the White Isle during the late 80s, which euphoric music floods the parties. The Adidas Spezial team took various elements from its archive and made extraordinary models just in time for the incoming rave season.
One of the sneakers included in the collection is the Padiham SPZL based on the renowned classic soccer sneakers called Adidas Samba. Few traits from the Samba are reflected on the Padiham, such as the shape of the tongue, reinforcement on the front, and the pivot points on the rubber sole.
This kick was named after a town from Great Britain that holds the electronic music festival during the 80s. It has a natural leather upper with stripes and suede overlay on the heel. Meanwhile, the tongue is made of synthetic leather. Perforations can be seen in between the 3-Stripe and on the tongue for enhanced ventilation.
