Adidas NMD_R2 Primeknit History
The Adidas NMD_R2 Primeknit originates from the original NMD sneaker which launched in 2016. The style was inspired by three shoes from the Adidas archives: the Boston Super, Micro Pacer and Rising Star. As a result, the shoe has a both a familiar and futuristic appeal.
The creation of the NMD was led by Nic Galway, the Vice President of Global Design for Adidas Originals. In creating the shoe, the Adidas veteran wanted to make this silhouette recognizable even from a distance. The designer also made sure that every part has a function. If one component is removed, the shoe will not function properly. The Lego-like block may seem like it’s just for the NMD aesthetic, but in reality, it supports the Boost foam. The NMD silhouette doesn’t have reinforcements so it’s the elements of the upper that give structure to the shoe.
This revolutionary silhouette was the most talked-about in Adidas history. It was released in various colorways and further models were released based on the original silhouette. Its extreme popularity made people think that it will end up like the ZX Flux—a model that became too common until people don’t want to talk about it anymore. The NMD followed a different path. People were excited about the shoe after every release. The resale value of the shoe increased. The original model is sold more than a thousand dollars.
The NMD R2 silhouette came after the NMD R1. This second edition was released in late 2016. The shoe launched in two colorways at an SRP of 170 USD.

The signature 3-stripes logo found on the medial and lateral sides establishes its Adidas roots. The shoe looks great with jeans and other casual styles.
Fit & Sizing
The Adidas NMD_R2 Primeknit is a shoe for men and women. Men’s sizes are from 5 to 14. Women’s sizes are from 5 to 11. The shoe generally runs true to size. The Primeknit upper hugs the foot like a sock with an adaptive support and extra light comfort. The upper is designed to stretch and conform to the unique shape of the wearer’s foot.
The wearers were impressed by the comfort given by these shoes. This is achieved by the Primeknit atop the Adidas Boost midsole.
