Adidas Matchcourt Mid x MJ Style
Reverting to a classic look, the sneaker showcases white accents from the laces to the iconic Adidas stripes which are completed by the white vulcanized sole with a rubber toe cap of the same tone. A sky blue Pantone 542 tint emphasizes the retro appeal which honors Johnson's skating roots. Gold accents found at the panels complement the overall color of the shoe which feature the label "MJ" and the traditional trefoil logo. A typical skater will sport the sneaker with maneuverable jeans or shorts depending on their preference.
Adidas Matchcourt Mid x MJ History
The mid top version of the Matchcourt was introduced to the public in 2016. With its strong roots in diversifying the Adidas silhouette, the sneaker had dipped its best foot in the realm of skateboarding and introduced Marc Johnson. It was a bold move, but the collaboration produced a brilliant masterpiece.
Johnson was a North Carolina-grown skate artist whose first love was the paddle bound sport namely table tennis. It was here where he developed the craze for rolling on the streets. With a troubled family and an unparalleled drive for skateboarding, he headed to California where his career didn't take off smoothly at first. Johnson gained a bunch of friends and established a company called Enjoi, which pretty much put him in the skating limelight.
Reaching out to the origin of the rebel sport he loved, Marc Johnson signed up with Adidas and revamped the practical sneaker in the form of the Matchcourt Mid. They took the Matchcourt Mid and drenched its pig Nubuck upper in Pantone 542, the official color of NC. The exclusive match-up sneaker was set to release in March 2017 in select retail stores and the official Adidas Skateboarding website.
