Adidas Jeans Super History

Originally released in 1979 as an all-around training and leisure shoe, the Adidas Jeans gained popularity, particularly on the football terraces, during the ‘80s. It was ideally designed to be worn with jeans, thus the all-suede upper with contrasting Adidas Three Stripes logo on the side panels.

It was reissued in 2003 due to popular demand and again in 2009. It has been released several times since then with a bit of a revamp through a soft and full suede upper, a leather heel tab, contrasting Three Stripes, tonal laces, gold-stamped "Jeans" on the lateral sides, and a rubber gum outsole with Trefoil logo detailing.

The June 2017 release of the Adidas Jeans was different from the previous ones since it was an updated version made exclusively in Yugoslavia. That version is known as the Adidas Jeans Super. Like the original, it is an all-around kind of sneaker, but more like a stylish lifestyle one. It resembles the classic Jeans with its suede upper with contrasting Three Stripes and "Jeans" brandings along the sides, but differs in such a way that it features the iconic Adidas window on the sides below the eyelets and a softer midsole wedge.

Adidas Jeans Super Style

The Adidas Jeans Super is an upgraded version of the classic Adidas Jeans in a slimmer silhouette and more premium, quality look. Living up to its name, it looks great when worn with jeans as it is when styled with denim shorts or any casual outfit.

Fit & Sizing

The Adidas Jeans Super is a men’s shoe with sizes ranging from 6 to 13 in D Medium width. It generally runs true to size. The Adidas branding on the tongue doubles as an extra eyelet, which allows a more secure fit of this shoe. The added heel stabilizer and the toe bumpers add to its stability while the low-top structures enable flexible ankle movement.

Notable Features

This updated version of the ‘80s classic from Adidas follows the silhouette of the original, but with a few minor design tweaks. Probably one of the first few things to stand out is the "Adidas window" branding on the lateral side panels, visible just below the eyelets. It is the same branding that can be seen both on the Adidas Gazelle Super and the Adidas Samba Super. This shoe also features a gum rubber outsole with Trefoil logo detailing.

Additional Info

  • Contrasting leather details on the Adidas Jeans Super can be found on the Three Stripes branding along the side panels and on the heel.
  • Other Adidas brandings are present on the midsole, on the heel, and on the tongue, while the "Jeans" branding can be found in gold font lateral to the iconic Three Stripes. This shoe also features a Cloudfoam sock liner, an injected EVA midsole, a T-toe overlay, and a suede upper with synthetic leather and textile lining.
  • The Adidas Jeans Super in vibrant blue colorway was exclusively released through the UK-based footwear, clothing, and accessories retail shop Size? On June 30, 2017.
