Adidas Handball Kreft SPZL History

In 2014, two Adidas passionate collectors namely Gary Aspden and Mike Chetcuti turned the archives of the Three Stripes upside down to create a special series of classic kick and called it Spezial. They searched and scouted for some classic silhouettes and almost forgotten profiles from the library, and re-engineered it with a hint of their style to bring them back to life.

In the Spring/Summer 2018 collection of the SPZL, the brand unveiled four silhouettes to celebrate the 30 years of the 'Second Summer of Love,' a fete of acid house and rave culture in Ibiza in the late 80s. The brand used vivid colors and prints to make a tangible throwback of summer season spent on the White Isle from 1988 to 1989. One of the sneakers launched is the Adidas Handball Kreft SPZL, which was perceived by Aspden as one of the most fabulous sports shoe ever made.

The Adidas Kreft SPZL is a one-on-one re-issue of the original silhouette to pay homage to the iconic designs from the archive. The SPZL version displays style faithful to the original iteration - from the color down to the Adidas branding. This pair is made of premium suede upper, leather tongue, blue laces, Adidas branding in various areas, and the dark gum rubber outsole.
