Adidas EQT Support RF Style

Although the Adidas EQT was built to perform, its overall design contributed greatly to making it an iconic sports shoe which was eventually adopted by sneakerheads in the '90s. The Adidas EQT Support RF exhibits a simple design that allows versatility in styling – it can be worn with casual clothes, jeans or shorts, or even with sportswear.

Notable Features

The Adidas EQT Support RF is an easily recognizable sneaker with a minimal design. It features a mix of mesh and synthetic suede or nubuck upper with reflective details and a wraparound burrito tongue. It also exhibits minimal branding via the Three Stripes along the sides, alike to other variations in the EQT line.

The most notable feature of the Adidas EQT Support RF, however, is its great shape. It follows the silhouette of the classic EQT but the shape was refined, hence the RF in its name.

Adidas EQT Support RF History

The Adidas Equipment line, also known as the Adidas EQT, was introduced in March 1991 as the brand’s “no bullshit” approach to clothing and footwear. It was made as the best of what Adidas, as a brand, and the shoe industry had to offer. The approach to the EQT line was minimal, taking everything out of a shoe that is unnecessary and keeping just the essentials. Premium materials were utilized purposefully to give the best athletes what they need to perform at their best. It was also through the EQT line that the signature Three Stripes logo of Adidas was introduced. It was designed to cover every sport from football, to running, to volleyball, and the list goes on.

The Adidas EQT Support was initially released in 1993 and it has never been out of the spotlight since then. In 2017, the Adidas EQT line was re-launched and it includes a new, refined version of the EQT Support called as the Adidas EQT Support RF (RF stands for “refine”). This new version follows the silhouette of the original, but with an improved shape.

Additional Info

  • Aside from the EQT Support RF, other models in the Adidas EQT line include EQT Support ADV, EQT Support ADV PK, EQT ADV W, EQT Support Ultra, EQT Racing 91 W, EQT Racing 91-16 W, EQT Support 93/17, and EQT Support Ultra PK.
  • The original colorway of the Adidas EQT was green, white, and black. During the relaunch in 2017, Adidas Originals picked red as the new color strategy for the EQT, in reference to red being at the complete opposite end of the green color in the color wheel. This new color is named as “Turbo Red”.
  • The EQT line predecessor was the Adidas ZX series, specifically the ZX 8000.
  • The Adidas EQT Support RF features TORSION SYSTEM Technology in the midfoot that allows better stability and surface adaptation by allowing the forefoot and rear foot to move independently.
