Extremely popular sneakers because of their price range, versatility when it comes to style, and freedom of movement. Almost everyone is guaranteed to have low-top sneakers in their shoe rotation.
Mid-top sneakers extend toward the ankle for a little more support and hold. These lie somewhere in the middle between low-top and high-top sneakers in terms of usage and popularity.
Sneakers with collars that go above the ankles for optimal hold and support are some of the most sought-after models in lifestyle shoes. Most of these shoes take their roots from basketball and have easily or fashionably crossed to mainstream wear.

Many Primeknit lovers highly admire this gradient effect of two colors. Furthermore, Adidas brought the Trefoil logo back in their newly launched EQT. It seems like the Adidas wanted to bring to light all the classic style and give it new life.
Another striking element is the use of various materials in this pair. These materials worked harmoniously to deliver an ultra comfortable pair. On the upper alone, many noticed that Adidas used pixel knits, suede, nylon, leather, polyester, TPU, embroidered nylon, and mesh. As if there is a parade of various materials on the upper of the EQT Support 93/17.
Adidas EQT Support 93/17 History
In the early ’90s, Adidas was in near bankruptcy. Peter Moore, one of the designers of Nike Air Jordan 1, joined Adidas and conceptualized the Equipment Range or the EQT Line. Adidas introduced a footwear collection that is fuss-free. They directed at eliminating the unnecessary features in footwear and clothing and focused on the construction, performance, and comfort. In the original EQT line, the shoe came with green, white and black colorways and dropped the Trefoil logo. Adidas started using the iconic 3-stripes in the EQT line.
EQT was tagged as the best shoe of Adidas for serious athletes. The family line of the Equipment has broadened since then. The EQT model range now includes clothing, basketball, volleyball, soccer, fencing and running trainers.
In 1993, the Equipment Support running shoe was released. Its release has set a new benchmark of trailblazing and high-performing footwear and apparel in the runner’s domain. They introduced the Torsion technology, which allows the wearers to move the back and front of their foot separately and the unique lacing system.
Time passed by, and the needs of the athletes as well as the consumers also changed. Adidas retro-ed the EQT Support in 2014 and added the “93” to the name to signify the year it debuted in the market. Early this year, the Adidas launched the EQT Support 93/17 wearing the Primeknit technology.
The brand re-engineered this iconic profile to suit the modern essentials. For its launch pack, the Adidas EQT Support 93/17 debuted in core black/turbo red colorway (aka Adidas EQT Support 93/17 Boost ‘Turbo Red’). This face-lifted EQT iteration also showcased premium materials and purposeful construction. Despite all the upgrades, the core of the EQT has never changed, “Everything that is essential, nothing that is not.”
Because of the appealing look of the Adidas Originals EQT Support 93/17, it has been upgraded with modern materials and was used as a base model for several collaborations. Here are few of the popular and latest iterations:
Adidas EQT Support 93/17 Gore-Tex
This all-white sneaker has been upgraded with a layer that has a waterproof ability called Gore-Tex that suits the rainy and cold months overlaid with a water-repellent mesh upper. This sneaker displays all the classic look of the Adidas EQT Support in a colorway that is considered hard to maintain. Thus many felt perplexed on how this kick will stay stylish on the muddy, slushy terrains.
Adidas EQT Support 93/17 Yuanxiao
Three Stripes unveiled this iteration to celebrate the extravagant Chinese New Year held every February. This oriental-looking Adidas EQT sneaker kept all the popular appeal and the unmatched comfort and support of the EQT Support model.
Adidas EQT Support 93/17 x BVG
To pay homage to the transit authority of Germany, Adidas partnered with Berlin Verkehrsbetriebe or the BVG to come up with an EQT Support iteration that features the designs on the seats of public transport. The seat cover design was displayed on the TPU cage of the sneaker while the annual season ticket of the BVG can be seen on the tongue. This model was launched in limited numbers and sold at $215 each.
BAIT x Adidas EQT Support 93/17
The California-based retailer called BAIT once again collaborated with Adidas to give their spin of the EQT Support 93/17 sneakers. This model is made of black Primeknit upper accented with red on the tongue and side panels. The brand and BAIT added reflective 3M laces, rubber cage overlays, and the Boost midsole in white.
- The midsole is made entirely of the Boost technology. This technology maximizes the energy return to the wearers. It provides an endless energy supply with every step. The EQT Support 93/17 is the first EQT to use the Boost technology.
- The Primeknit upper has two designs. On the lateral side, it has the signature pixelated design. On the medial side, it has the embroidered vertical white lines that provide more support on the foot when it is leaning towards the center. The medial side also is thicker compared to the lateral side.
- It also has suede on the medial area of the shoe to provide support.
- Signature EQT 3-stripe representations are present. This pair has the 3-stripe webbing tape in the midfoot and embossed in the Boost. It is the first time Adidas embossed the 3-stripe on the Boost midsole.
- Adidas used the nylon flat webbing tape to hold the shoelace in place.
- It has an external TPU heel cage that can hold the lace if the wearer wants to further tighten the shoelace on the tongue area.
- The Adidas EQT Support 93/17 has a unique burrito tongue which slides down when the wearer tightens the lace. The tongue has the Adidas logo and the model name and the Trefoil. It has the 91/17 print that refers to the year when the EQT was first released and the year when it was re-released.
- Adidas placed a very sturdy outsole. It has reinforcements on the heel and sole which enhances the durability of the rubber outsole.
- This pair comes with an irremovable green OrthoLite® sockliner.
