Fit & Sizing

The Adidas CLMBA SPZL is a unisex shoe that is exclusively available in men's sizes. The gentlemen can choose from sizes 4 to 12, while the ladies should go one size down from their standard sneaker size. Most users disclosed that it ran bigger than expected and recommended to go half a size down.

Adidas CLMBA SPZL Style

Retooled for the 21st century, the Adidas CLMBA SPZL now features premium nubuck leather but retained the original's classic aesthetic. Its classy navy/silver colorway adds a touch of elegance to its sporty midsole with the tri-colored plugs. The kick's timeless appeal and versatility can be worn with most casual outfits. From jeans to joggers and chinos, it can complement any ensemble and make you look good all across seasons.

Notable Features

This low-top classic is a carbon copy of the original Columbia kick. From the U-shaped raised seam at the forefoot to the midsole design and the outsole tread pattern. Its similarity to its predecessor was what made most consumers purchase a pair. But for those who are seeing this design for the first time, the shoe's tri-colored shock absorbing midsole will initially catch their eye along with the metallic silver Three Stripe logo and heel counter.

Adidas CLMBA SPZL History

Adidas Spezial is a collection under the company's street-focused sub-brand, the Originals. Gary Aspden and a couple of other long-time Adidas fans curated Spezial and introduced it in 2014. The range started exclusively releasing merchandise in the United Kingdom during its early years and didn't reach the US until early 2017.

According to Aspden, who is also the line's Creative Consultant, he wanted to establish a range that is the exact opposite of hype and something that would rather sit outside today's footwear trends. Adidas Spezial's vision is to look back at the brand's archives and bring new life to the classics. Aspden also shared that the range took inspiration from a 70s collection called the "Freizeit," which means free time in German.

In 2018, Spezial launched its Spring/Summer collection, which took inspirational cues from the cultural shifts that took place in the British music scene during the 80s, specifically the birth of Acid House. The collection released their merchandise in two separate drops, which included apparel and a hefty amount of sneakers.

One of these kicks is the Adidas CLMBA SPZL, a reissue 33 years shy from the original Adidas Columbia. Most retro sneaker collectors were thrilled with this kick's release hence despite the pricey cost it still sold like pancakes.
