Adidas Campus CNY Style
The Adidas Campus CNY is a versatile shoe that is easy to pair with casual to semi-casual clothing. The shoe matches nicely with jeans and shorts, but they look good just as well crisp trousers and button-up polo shirts.
The noteworthy comfort of the Adidas Campus CNY has been further elevated with the inclusion of an Ortholite sockliner which provides maximum comfort while being breathable and lightweight. Aside from the comfort of the sneakers, it still retains that iconic look that has been loved by many from simple consumers to celebrities.
Adidas Campus CNY History
The Adidas Campus started off in the 1970s as basketball shoes with a low-cut design. They were initially named the Tournament before being renamed as the Campus in the 80s. From being basketball shoes, the Campus transitioned into skate shoes. They would have remained the secret of skateboarding enthusiasts until the Beastie Boys featured them in their album called Check Your Cover and raised them from semi-obscurity.
The Beastie Boys wore the Campus their entire career, even well after 1987 when Adidas discontinued the model. The Campus became influential sneakers, making their mark on hip-hop culture particularly in the place where hip-hop was born: New York City. The Beastie Boys’ continued endorsement of the silhouette encouraged the brand to return the silhouette back in circulation in the mid-90s.
The Campus’ revival kicked off a lot of collaborations down the road for the silhouette ranging from House of Pain to BAPE and Undefeated. Adidas also came out with several Campus iterations of the model including one with debossed side branding.
