Aside from a little refinement in the upper design and the midsole arch, the adizero XT 5 is really the type of trail shoe I’m looking for, would love to see more of, and I don’t understand why more companies don’t put out shoes like it.
This is where the adizero XT 5 shines, especially in the trail shoe category. It takes a marathon racing shoe geometry (adios) and uses that as the blueprint for the midsole design.
They lack some excitement due to changes in the design. The heel drop has increased; the new XT has a 10mm drop, but the version before this had a flatter 6mm drop which really made it stand out from the mainstream crowd and going back up to 10mm is an odd choice.
Updates to Adidas Adizero XT 5
- The XT 5 version of the Adidas Adizero is a trail running shoe that gives stability, comfort, and support when it comes to traversing the trails. The gripping capability of the outsole unit allows it to function well on many types of outdoor surfaces; yet it remains comfortable, making it suitable for daily runs. The underfoot experience is soft and responsive, and it doesn’t feel like the performance of the wearer is restricted or limited because it’s tuned to give a more efficient toe-off.
- Breathable and comfortable coverage is the purpose of this shoe’s upper unit. The material itself is durable and capable of wrapping around the foot in a snug manner. A gusseted tongue keeps debris from entering the shoe.
- The mid-sole unit gives the runner a balanced underfoot experience that’s comfortable & durable. High-quality foam units are used in this shoe, allowing the foot to be well-cushioned at all times. More focus is afforded in the forefoot section, therefore allowing the runner to have a more efficient toe-off.
- The outsole of the Adidas Adizero XT 5 was tuned to perform exceptionally well on the trails. It uses two types of technologies that have specific purposes for the external layer. Durable protection from wear, as well as traction, is provided by this trail-specific outsole.
Adidas Adizero XT 5 size and fit
The Adidas Adizero XT 5 is true to its size. The men and women’s versions adhere to the regular measurements when it comes to running shoe length. The available width is medium, so it accommodates the runner who has a medium-sized foot.
The adiWEAR® is an outsole technology that uses high-quality rubber to provide durable protection against wear and surface abrasion. It doesn’t peel off easily, so it’s able to shield the sole unit responsibly, essentially helping to extend the longevity of this shoe.
The Continental™ rubber allows the outsole to hold onto the surfaces with sureness and efficiency. It works well in any condition, even wet ones. So, running in puddles or other slippery terrains becomes much easier. The Continental™ outsole material displays an abrasion-resistant property that could also be found in another Adidas running shoe, the Ultra Boost 19.
A high-density EVA foam is used for the Adizero XT 5. This material gives responsive and resilient cushioning that lasts a long time. It doesn’t wear off or loses integrity easily, therefore maintaining a consistent platform, even after many uses.
The adiPRENE+® is a cushioning system that’s placed in the forefoot section. Its purpose is to provide efficiency when it comes to the propulsive mechanics of the foot movement. It doesn’t stiffen the forefoot section of the platform, therefore making the toe-off phase much more agreeable to the natural movements of the foot.
The TORSION® SYSTEM is a thermoplastic material that’s placed in the mid-foot area. It’s able to deliver support to the arch. It also prevents the breakdown or twisting of the mid-foot section of the shoe, which is crucial in keeping the platform as full-bodied & efficient as it initially was.
The Coolever Mesh is the main material used for the Adidas Adizero XT 5. It has an open construction, so it allows air to seamlessly enter the shoe in order to maintain a well-ventilated environment for the foot. It is also able to stave off moisture.
Synthetic overlays are stitched onto the upper unit. It provides structure to the shoe while also helping in securing the foot in a snug yet customizable wrap. Connected directly to the shoelaces, these overlays react, then tighten or loosen in accordance with the adjustments made to the lacing system
The gusseted and lightly padded tongue keeps debris away while also keeping the foot comfortable & free from irritation or pressure points.
The Removable Molded EVA Sock Liner is placed above the mid-sole unit. It’s made to follow the natural curvature of the underfoot, so it is able to provide support to the heel and arch. This high-quality add-on doesn’t break down easily, giving reliable service, even after many uses.
